Teacher Collaborative Opportunities

Northwest Native Americans

5th Grade: Native American Housing Project Fifth grade students conducted group research on their assigned Native American tribe's housing in both their classroom and the library. They planned how to create a model of the housing their assigned tribe lived while with their classroom teacher and then used Makerspace materials to actually create the model in the library. Once complete, student groups created videos to demonstrate their learning in the library.

Hassan - Life Cycles

Second Grade - Life Cycles Research Project Second grade students were learning about the life cycles of various insects in their classrooms. Once the initial introduction occurred, students conducted additional research in the library and displayed their learning by creating a video using the Draw and Tell app. Student products were added to the JCPS Digital Backpack upon completion.

Global Read Aloud - 3rd Grade Third grade teachers read aloud the GRA text, A Boy Called Bat, and used it to address various reading standards. In the library, students participated in the Global Read Aloud activities, including conducting research on skunks, viewing videos created by the author, and writing letters to other GRA participants from Texas.

Structure and Function Animal Creation

4th Grade: Structure and Function Animal Creation Fourth grade students conducted research in their classrooms and in the library on the different structures and functions of animals of their choice. They chose three different animals and used one of their structures to create an original animal. They created their animals in their classrooms and then wrote and recorded their videos in the library. Completed videos were added to the students' JCPS Digital Backpacks.
