Trappers life
The Blackfeet, Crow, and Comanche Indians were a constant threat. They killed trappers for their horses and guns and to drive the trappers out of the Indians’ hunting grounds. To protect themselves from Indians, the trappers worked in groups of ten or so. Each group had a base camp in the mountains. From there, they went out in pairs to set traps.
But sometimes the Trappers and traders would form close relationships with some Native Americans and influence one another. As trappers adapted to life in the wilderness, they frequently adopted an Indian lifestyle,

By the 1840s beaver were almost extinct. At about the same time, the styles in the East and Europe changed and men began to wear silk top hats. Because of this, the price of beaver pelts dropped and trapping was no longer profitable.
