The southern colonies were founded for many reasons .
Some of the colonies were founded for religious freedom one of which is Maryland founded in 1634 to keep Catholics safe from war or death. One other colony Georgia was founded in 1732 to keep the Spanish moving North. Virginia was the first successful colony for the British it was founded in 1607 to make people rich. The Carolina's were founded to make people rich .

Other colonies
Well I know that you're thinking between New England , The Middle , and The South but come to the south we have many things that the other two don't have.
South: Rich soil for farming mild winters . North and Middle terrible winters. Also you have to build boats to catch fish unlike the south just planting a few seeds. There is also bad soil for farming the North . Cutting down trees isn't any better you have to get a tool and cut down trees all day long sounds hard. Come to the South and plant cash crops to make money fast!
