SCHOOL MEALS
P1 - P5 currently get free school meals as part of the Scottish Government's 'Early Years Free School Meals Programme'. It's been announced that the extension to P6 & P7 will be delayed until later in the parliamentary term.
Even if you child gets free school meals through this programme, you might still qualify for free school meals through the 'Low Income Scheme'. If you think you will qualify for the low income scheme, it's really important that you still apply for this because it could allow you to qualify for even more financial help from the council during school holidays as well as additional bridging payments of £130 per child.

BRIDGING PAYMENTS
The Scottish Child Payment Bridging Payment is four payments of £130 for each child who gets free school meals through the 'low income scheme'.
Glasgow City Council will make the payments in Easter, Summer, October and Christmas in 2022.
If your child gets school meals already through the low income scheme, the payment will be made to you automatically.
If you haven’t already applied through the low income scheme you have to do this to get the payment, even if you meet the criteria for them but you’ve not applied for free school meals, for example because your child gets universal free school meals because they are in P1—P5, or they don’t want to have school meals.
