“I don’t think this is a good idea!” I whispered urgently to Jordyn. “Come on, it's not that scary,” Jordyn said emphasising the word “scary”. We stood outside an old dusty run-down house as the thunder boomed and the lightning crashed illuminating the “haunted” house. A shiver went down my spine as a gust of wind blew all around us and strangely at that moment, I sensed there was something up with this house.

But Jordyn, on the other hand, was acting like she was a news reporter getting ready for her shift on the five o’clock news and not even thinking about the cold.
”Anyway, we need to hurry if we are going to make it back before my mum gets back from work at 11 o’clock,” she urged me.

“Okay, just this once and why do we need to get back before your mum again?” I asked, suspicion in my voice.
“Well my mum doesn’t exactly know that we are here, she thinks we are watching a movie and eating pizza.”
“Why didn’t you tell her?!” I gasped.
“She would have said NO, why else? Anyway we need to hurry up or she will know, and if that happens then we will both get a growling, do you want that?”
“Okay, okay, okay calm down. No need to be rude”
“Just start the video already!” Jordyn said with a tone of demand in her voice. I lifted the old video camera up to my face and hit the record button...

“Hello and welcome to the exclusive video of the so called haunted house on 63 Baird Road.” Jordyn said enthusiastically to the camera. “Stay tuned to find out what is inside of this house. But then in her loudest voice she screamed at me, “And Cut!”

“Cool are we finished now? We can do the rest tomorrow since it’s 10:45 and we need to get back before your mum,” I said hopefully and worriedly.
“ Yes, you are right, we will finish it tomorrow because it’s 10:45 pm and we need to get home, but first let's just take a sneak peek so that we don’t actually get freaked out on camera if there is anything creepy inside.” She said
in a daring voice so that I practically had no choice but to say yes.
“ Alright, but it better be fast, ok!”
We walked to the house slowly, with sticks and leaves crunching underneath our feet. As we walked slowly up to the door the floorboards seemed to moaned underneath our feet.
“ Brave people first,” I said, knowing she couldn’t make me go first. Jordyn reached out to clasp the door handle but before she could touch it the door swung open. We were horrified by what we saw…

From the moment Jordyn touched
that door handle I knew there was something wrong, my whole body felt strange like I didn't belong to it
anymore. We walked slowly through the spooky house being careful not to fall through the old rotten floorboards. “Let's go explore!” Jordyn whispered with anticipation.
“Nah, we should have been gone already, and anyway we could always come back tomorrow,” I said, knowing there was little chance of her agreeing.
But to my surprise, she said,” you’re right but we can’t forget about the movie cause I want that gift card.” As we turned to leave the door slammed shut and a dark silhouette of an old man appeared. He had dark brown hair and skin almost the colour of snow, making him look like. The booming voice came around the room,” why leave so soon, you
only just arrived?”

This whole thing started a few weeks ago at school someone brought up that they thought this place was haunted and now it was a race, the first person to video themselves inside the house and post it on the social media of their choosing would not only get the respect of their peers but also a $500 gift (that’s the one that Jordyn wanted). Now obviously I thought that was a little risky (the gift card) but Jordyn didn’t seem to mind and so made me video her. Plus I’d always had a strange feeling whenever I walked past that house so I kind of wanted to see what was inside but this was just creepy.

Eventually, he spoke again saying,” come join us, Annabelle, you know you want to.” A
