Our Power Values

Our aim is for every child to leave with the power to make a positive change in the world. Through our subjects there are five themes that we believe are integral with teaching children how to become powerful adults.

We ensure that these themes run through our subjects. Children learn about 5 areas of power - Education, Religion, Resources, People and Legacy.

Social Justice is about transforming lives. It is about giving people with multiple disadvantages the support they need to turn their lives around.

As Catholics we look to the six areas of Social Justice to ensure that your child is being made aware of the social issues in society so they can make a change. We teach your child this through:

Dignity of the Human Person
Family and Community
Solidarity and the Common Good
Rights and Responsibilities
Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
Stewardship

God loves us as His children. Children will know what we are all different and amazing. We love and look after each other because we are brothers and sisters. Children will learn that loving each other makes us strong.
God loves is equal. We are all amazing.

Through the Creation Story for children
to know that as each day was different, God has no favourite
days, He loves us all. For children to celebrate what is different.
We
look after each other as we are brother and sister. Loving each other makes us
strong.

For children to learn that we are all
brothers and sisters. Looking at different ways we can show love to each other.
For children to discuss that if they work together could they achieve more.

We are all equal in God’s eyes and loved.

For children
to know that God sees and values each person that he has created. For children
to understand what it means to be carved in the palm of His hand.
I have been given a special gift for the
world.

For children to recognise
the gifts they have been given. For children to know which gifts they value for
themselves. And to start looking outwards where they can look at the gifts that they are giving others.
Each person is unique and irreplaceable –
everyone matters.

Children will learn that there is a
link between their gifts. They will learn that everyone is unique and needed to
make the whole picture. No one can take their place.
People matter more than possessions.

For children to read stories that make
them think about money and it’s value. For
them to show the respect towards people first and not to judge them on their
possessions.

Children will learn the difference between their home family and their school family. They will learn that we are all different and we love and care for each other. The reason why we love each other is because we are all brothers and sisters in one family.
We are all part of a community and we
look after each other.

Understanding
what a Community is. Children will learn what makes a school community and a
family community. Children will look at how they can make their community
stronger. Children will look at how to live out our Mission Statement in the
Community.

needs me.
