National Curriculum

Children's reading is a priority. Children practice their reading skills through: Reading aloud to an adult every day. Guided reading sessions. Daily Phonic Sessions. Independent reading books. Stories being read by an adult. Non-fiction and Fiction books connected to The Great Explorer.

To design a bridge that will help explorers cross over a dangerous sea. To be able to re-design and evaluate original designs.

Topic Children will create a class allotment, grow and nurture your own plants, understand how food chains work and learn that energy from the Sun is passed through each link in a food chain. In the final session you will sample some of the food you have grown and share this and an enlightening food chain dance with a group of visitor

Through our subjects there are five themes that we believe are integral with teaching children how to become powerful adults. We ensure that these themes run through our subjects. Children learn about 5 areas of power - Education, Religion, Resources, People and Legacy.

National Curriculum The aim of&nbsp;RSE&nbsp;is to give young people the information they need to help them develop healthy, nurturing relationships of all kinds. It should enable your child to know what a healthy relationship looks like and what makes a good friend, a good colleague and a successful marriage or other type of committed relationship.

The area of study is Physical Contact and Harmful substances

For children to revise the PANTS rule. This is framed in the core belief that our bodies are made by God and given to us as wonderful gifts that deserve our and others respect. Pupils will relate their prior knowledge of medicines and the need to be safe around them to new learning about harmful substances. This is underpinned with the religious teaching that our bodies are a gift from God which we should take care of. Children explore what makes a situation a 999 emergency and introduces children to the principles of basic First Aid through animated teaching, role play and discussions.

During their night prayers, focus on your family and praying together to ensure that you always work through problems together and stay strong for each other. Read for 30 mins every night. To learn their three fabulous things •Roald Amundsen was an explorer of the polar region. (People) •Ibn Battuta is&nbsp;the greatest medieval Muslim traveller.&nbsp;(Religion) •Sunita Williams is an American astronaut. (Legacy) The children will have an independent assessment activity where they will have to design a travel pack for modern explorers. You can help them think about equipment is in their pack and how an explorer would use it.

Social Justice&nbsp;is a non-statutory subject. Catholic Social Teaching is based on the belief that God has a plan for creation, a plan to build his kingdom of peace, love and justice. Our part in this story is a kind-of vocation for the common good, a call to treat everyone as our brothers and sisters. It is something that we all share. we want to engage your child in expressing their faith through social justice and action.

To explore ScratchJr to use coding techniques. To create an animation that leads to create sounds and characters through buttons. To plan and co-ordinate an algorithm to create ‘the three little pigs’ and then to create their own jokes.

National Curriculum PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education)&nbsp;is a non-statutory subject. But we feel that there are so many areas in a child's personal life that we need to teach them, that is more than the National Curriculum. Therefore, PSHE is taught during Live Life to the Full Week.
