Our Power Values

Our aim is for every child to leave with the power to make a positive change in the world. Through our subjects there are five themes that we believe are integral with teaching children how to become powerful adults.

We ensure that these themes run through our subjects. Children learn about 5 areas of power - Education, Religion, Resources, People and Legacy.

Pupils will continue to apply and develop a broader range of skills, learning how to use them in different ways and to link them to make actions and sequences of movement. They should enjoy communicating, collaborating and competing with each other. They will develop an understanding of how to improve in different dance activities and learn how to evaluate and recognise their own success.

Pupils will be taught to:

develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance

compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best

Parts high and low: for children to work on the skills of working high and low. They will build on their jumping skills and challenging their body to move in different ways
eg bridge on feet and extend to hand and feet.
Children to travel in pathways. To look at straight travel, zig-zag and curving travel. To compare their pathways to make them big and small. To look at different movements with ‘Follow my leader’ building on previous skills learnt.
For children to master the skill of turning, twisting, and spinning. Through rolling on the floor, through to looking at different body parts to spin. They will extend these skills to the air. They will twist and come back the same way – twisting and resolving.

For children to enhance their skills of symmetry and asymmetrical, They will identify it, balance and travel symmetrically and asymmetrically. They will work on levels of movement, moving smoothly between one shape to another. They will perform matching sequences side by side.
Children to work on their gymnastic skills through pathways. For children to investigate flexible and direct pathways. For them to choose appropriate
movements. They will practice movements that are
quick/slow/acceleration
/deceleration and
can change levels.
Children will learn to embed their travelling skills by changing their front and directions. They will travel in the same direction but constantly
changing the way you face. They will put all their skills in to a sequence for performance.

Balance changing in to change of front or direction.
For children to establish different balances on different parts of the body. They will be able to join together
run/jump/roll
/balance to change face. They will explore travel in different directions in different levels.
