Ponta do Sol is located in Madeira Island,Portugal;
It is a tourist destination because it is a very beautiful, attractive village and there are so many magnificent places to visit;
From Ponta do Sol to Lisbon the capital city of Portugal it takes 1h30 by plane;
There is a bridge built in the times of the Portuguese monarchy, this is a living testimony of the time of difficult connections between the various locations on the island;
The municipality is limited to the north by the municipalities of Porto Moniz and São Vicente, to the east by Ribeira Brava, to the west by Calheta and to the south the Atlantic Ocean;
It's small village, it's population is about 8862;
Near Ponta do Sol, we also have other municipalities such as Ribeira Brava,Calheta,Porto Moniz, São Vicente;

There are 6 churches in Ponta do Sol built before the 20th century with Baroque,Manueline and Mannerist style. We also have chapels such as Santo António and S. Sebastião and others;
The pier , the monument Santa Teresinha , the Caminho Real , the old cinema , the "Solar dos Esmeraldos"and the water clock in Canhas are very important buildings/monuments in Ponta do Sol and others;
Our economic activity is based on the primary sector, which includes agriculture, predominantly the production of sugarcane, bananas, horticulture and floriculture. Another highlight is the traditional commerce, hotels and restoration.
We don't have parks but we have playgrounds with slide, swings and other small amusements.In these places we can spend time with our family and relax;
We can find Ponta do Sol shopping in the center of the village we can also find hairdressers, pharmacies, clothing stores, banks, restaurants and supermarkets in terms of shops. Regarding services, we have a health center, schools, a library, a court house and a police station;
In my town there isn't a river but we have "ribeiras" that are small streams of water, not navigable, in some cases it has the function of watering agricultural fields and these flow into the sea;

Nowadays, in Ponta do Sol it's very hot because it's summer. There is nothing better than going to the beach with friends and I think my favorite place is the beach, it's very special to me. The water is clear, clean and the sun is radiant and the best dives are in Ponta do Sol.

Firstly, I like a little bit of everything in Ponta do Sol. Most importantly in my opinion what I like most in my hometown is the sunset, because it's something transcendent that transposes us to eternity and the bars / cafes in the village are very welcoming and comfortable.

The only thing I don't like so much is the time and distance it takes to reach the main city Funchal, in Madeira Island.

In conclusion, you should visit Ponta do Sol because the people are friendly, the climate and the bars/restaurants are good, there are cultural activities and we have a lot of places to visit.
There are many festivals, for example, "Aqui e acolá" festival, county parties and others;
Occasionally, there are fairs and exhibitions in John dos Passos and in the playground in the center of the village, with traditional things from Madeira among other things;
