You know how you have the Cub Cast that you listen to every morning at OHES? At VES you will watch the morning news with your classmates. You will hear pillar of character tips, special reports, and even the weather on the news. In 4th grade, you will have an opportunity to be one of the newscasters. We then place all of our newscasts onto the <a href="https://sites.google.com/mtsd.us/ves-news/home">VES website</a> so you can show them to parents and friends.

Being a scientist is fun no matter what school you are in or what you are studying. Just like you did at OHES you will examine things, ask some questions and then answer those questions by doing experiments. Some of the areas in science that we will focus on are: Climate &amp; Weather, Living Things: How do things Survive? and Forces and Interactions.

You will have a writers' workshop every day just like you do at OHES. We are similar in that we follow the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing. In third grade, you will get to make up your own fractured fairy tale.

Who are the Principal and Assistant Principal at VES?

Just like you do at OHES we celebrate a pillar of character each month. The only difference is that now you are older we've added 4 additional pillars to work on.

In Social Studies, you will get to learn all types of cool things. You will learn about the history of Montgomery. You will also learn about the Lenape indigenous people. You will also get to use some of those mapping skills you learned in grade 2 to explore NJ and even the globe.

Math is so important and just like at OHES you will work on it every day. You will continue to explore addition &amp; subtraction with higher numbers, time, money, graphing, and many more. You will also work on multiplication and division. Like all good mathematicians, you will continue to explain your thinking and how you arrived at your answer.
