Gender stereotyping&nbsp;creeps into&nbsp;our&nbsp;lives without us knowing, assigning girls and&nbsp;boys certain colours, clothes, activities, jobs and&nbsp;roles to play throughout their lives. This can damage&nbsp;how someone sees themselves and negatively affect&nbsp;their mental health. It can hold people back from&nbsp;their full potential, preventing them from doing what&nbsp;they truly want. We are trying to take small steps to&nbsp;put a stop to gender stereotyping. We need your&nbsp;help to raise awareness&nbsp;about this topic.

Gender stereotypes had affected her through&nbsp;advertisements and she had a feeling of realization.

Ruby’s mother has already introduced stereotypes into her life without even realizing it. She gave her&nbsp;what she thought Ruby wanted, a princess themed bedroom and lots of pink toys.

Ruby’s mother wanted her to wear dresses.

Ruby remembered the time when her friend said that she&nbsp;couldn’t wear clothing “meant” for boys.

Ruby began to get bullied for her&nbsp;desire to wear&nbsp;“boys” clothes.

Ruby gained the confidence to talk to them. She knew that what others thought of her didn’t matter.

But Ruby didn’t want to wear pink dresses anymore. She wanted to wear clothes that made her feel comfortable.

One day, Ruby overheard a conversation between her classmates.&nbsp; “It’s not right for boys to wear dresses!” one said.

She discussed with her new friend that it’s okay to like clothes “meant” for girls and everyone should be able to wear what they&nbsp;like.

Ruby was born, and hadn’t yet formed her own identity.
