Welcome to the Aspire Academy Trust.

Head of School Welcome

Hello, I am Miss Tamsin Harris and I have the pleasure of
being Head of School at Crowan Primary School.
On behalf of the dedicated staff and amazing children here, I would like to welcome you to our friendly and
welcoming school.

We are a small school of roughly 100 children, where
everyone looks after each other and supports each other.

Our aim is to provide an environment where children feel
valued and they are supported to achieve their very best. Our curriculum is
planned to provide the children with stimulating learning, so they become
lifelong learners.

EYFS Lead/Teacher Welcome

Hello and welcome.
My name is
Mrs SophieGreenaway, and I am the Early Years Lead here at Crowan School. I am also the teacher in our wonderful Reception class, named Releath.

At Crowan School, we make sure that every child has a flying start to their learning journey and we offer home visits or Nursery visits to all those joining us. We spend time speaking with Nurseries and parents, giving us and you the opportunity to ask questions and share important information about your child.

Tailored transition sessions will be planned for the summer term to give your child the opportunity to get to know both us and the classroom environment before starting school with us here in September.

Safeguarding

We have a commitment to safeguard our children.

We all have a responsibility to act if we are worried about a child.
All children have a right to be safe no matter who they are or what their circumstance.

Every academy within the Aspire Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

Trauma Informed Schools UK is a registered community interest company working in association with the Centre for Child Mental Health. It provides training to ensure that every adult in a school or community has the skills and understanding to respond appropriately to the relational and emotional needs children may display.

TiS supports schools to create a mentally healthy environment
and culture in which all within the school community, adults and children
alike, can flourish and achieve. It advocates a whole school response and evidence-based relational approaches to provide an enriched environment to buffer the impact of stress that may result from adversity and painful life events.

In addition, specially trained Trauma and Mental Health Informed Practitioners offer targeted intervention to children who may be experiencing challenges within their life that without support may act as a barrier to their ability to fully engage with life and learning.

Our Reception Staff

In Releath Class Mrs Greenaway will be your class
teacher. She is a very experienced teacher, who has a passion for teaching in
the early years. Mrs Greenaway enjoys singing and loves helping you on your way
to become expert readers.

Our teaching assistant, Mrs Cleave, has worked in
Releath class for a number of years and also has an excellent knowledge of the
EYFS framework. She is a very talented artist and enjoys getting creative with
the children.

Mr Bromley supports the class on a Thursday
morning, when Mrs Greenaway has PPA, and enjoys getting hands on, building and
creating new things out of anything he can find!

Early Years Curriculum

At Crowan School, we make sure that every child
has a positive start to their school journey, implementing a curriculum that
allows our children to become independent, confident and successful learners.
In an environment where they feel safe to ask questions, explore and try new
things our children strive to achieve, reaching their full potential through
learning tailored to meet their individual needs.
Our curriculum is child centred, with learning
planned to support children develop both their skills and knowledge, through a
range of first-hand experiences, adult led activities and within carefully
planned continuous provision.

Tapestry is an easy-to-use and secure online learning journal that helps staff and families across Aspire academies celebrate their children’s learning and development both at school and home.

Tapestry facilitates this by enabling a personal journal that builds over time. Photographs, videos and notes of special moments will be made available regularly to you via your iPhone or Android App.
