It is about 1.2 metres long. A guitar has only six strings, but a sitar can have twenty strings!

The sitar is a very old instrument. The first sitar is probably from over five hundred years ago!
It is popular in Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

People traditionally play Hindu music. In Hindu myth, Goddess Saraswati plays the sitar. She is the goddess of knowledge and arts.
