Mukwonago: a top coffee spot!

Mukwonago's first Starbucks.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

With the small town of Mukwonago having five coffee shops, how could we ever run short of coffee? According to Google, the ratings range from 3.7 - 4.7, which means that the coffee shops here are well-liked. How could they not be liked when they have such a calming atmosphere, friendly employees, and comfortable furniture? The top-rated coffee shop is Espresso Love Coffee. Rated at 4.7, it's located in the heart of town; it is a prime destination. Not only do they serve coffee, but they also serve wonderful sandwiches, soups, smoothies, and tea. The Caffeinated Cafe is rated 4.6. They are located on 1146 N Rochester Street, which is also an easy and convenient stop. They even have a drive through, so you can get your order quickly. Their menu has a vast variety of items like coffee, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, flatbread, salads, smoothies, soup, and even a kids' menu! All these selections will blow your mind!

Shanahan’s Coffee House is also rated 4.6. It is located at 920 Greenwald Ct. Along with coffee, they have fantastic breakfast food. Some of the items on their menu are wonderful soups and sandwiches, an assortment of lattes, hot cocoa, and smoothies. On nice days, you can even sit outside and enjoy the weather! Next is Starbucks with a 4.3 rating. This shop is located next to Qudoba. They have a wide variety of drinks ranging from iced tea to steamy espresso and delectable frappuccinos. They also sell sandwiches and bakery items. This Starbucks has extended hours and friendly staff. Mukwonago’s newest coffee shop is another Starbucks, located inside of Pick N Save. They currently have no ratings on Google. This is a prime location because students can walk there after school. Starbucks has many treats to satisfy a sweet tooth, along with drinks tailored to how you like them. With so many coffee shops with great reviews and a wide variety of menu options, Mukwonago is a top place for coffee.

Bucks First in the East

The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the most supreme NBA teams around right now and they are starting to begin the second half of their season. This year the Bucks produced two outstanding players who made it to All-Star weekend, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Giannis was the captain of the Team from the East. The Bucks finished out the first half of the season with the best record in the NBA. If the Bucks finish the season with the best record in the NBA it will be the first season since the 2000- 2001 season that this has happened. Either way the Bucks just need to win a few more games to secure their spot in the playoffs. Currently, the Bucks are one game ahead of The Toronto Raptors, their biggest threat in the East. I believe the Bucks are going to secure the first seed in the Eastern Conference and eventually make it to Eastern Conference Finals. It depends on how the rest of the season goes, but I believe the the Bucks are going to make it to the NBA finals and have a chance to win it all. Keep watching the Bucks as they finish their season strong. With a month and a half to play in the regular season, Giannis seems to be in the running for MVP and also remains on pace to shatter the single-season dunk record. In fact, he has dunked more than more than a handful of&nbsp;teams.

All of us have been updated about the atrocious news of global warming, toxic chemicals, and climate changes that affects our world dramatically. Since we live in Wisconsin, we have not gotten the chance to experience the overall effect of global warming. But soon, we all will understand the reason for Earth’s suffering. Due to the amount of toxic gas humans pollute into the air (2.4 million pounds every second), the climate has changed dramatically in temperature, heating rapidly. As reported by Sydney Pereira, a Newsweek editor, “In 2100, global temperatures are expected to rise 3 degrees Celsius (37.4 degrees fahrenheit), the United Nations announced on Tuesday.”&nbsp;Because of this heat, the oceans are warming, causing gigantic 1,000 mile long icebergs to melt and increasing the ocean’s surface line. Every ten years, the ocean rises 2-6 feet, but by 2095, it might rise 205 feet!

&nbsp;According to Elizabeth Rush, editor of The Guardian, “In the ocean, that heat is expanding the ocean, which is contributing to sea level rise, and it is also, more importantly, creating the setting for something we really don’t want to have happen: rapid melt of ice.” This problem is not commonly addressed because not much of the world is used to, or has heard of, this slow-rising water crises.&nbsp;But even though this issue is occurring at a slow pace, doesn't mean it cannot change rapidly if humans keep treating our world like a gigantic garbage dump.&nbsp;We may not be able to change the horror of this problem, but we can slow the process by using green energy, converting to recycling, and limiting the amount of pollution in our world.&nbsp;Make sure to take care of and address Earth’s issues, because they may come back to swallow you up.

In Denmark, there is a plan for an expansion of land. Developers would build nine islands for more housing, office space and parks. The islands would be off the coast of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. The island would be a complex 33 square miles including 380 new businesses and parks. An article at Reuters, states, “One of the nine islands will house a plant converting waste from the capital to bio-gas, cleaning waste water and storing green energy from windmills. Others will have space for industrial companies.” This would be a game changer for the environment. Experts form CITY LAB say “...The site could cut Copenhagen’s carbon footprint by hosting the Northern Europe’s largest waste-to-energy plant—an Urban Power-designed facility which could convert trash into enough electricity to meet 25 percent of Copenhagen’s need.” Finally, these islands would serve as a flood barrier for the coast, acting like a sponge during harsh weather.

Although this plan looks great, experts question if the plan is really feasible. What if adding land creates more issues?

Plans will be finalized in 2022 and construction will begin. So, in 2050, Denmark will be "going green".  If this new expansion is successful, perhaps other countries will expand, too. Who knows what the future holds?

With the track season starting soon, athletes are preparing for an exciting season! Track is a "no cut" sport open to all 7th and eighth grade girls and boys. The first practice begins, Monday, April 1. Practices run from 2:45 to 4:45 Monday through Thursday.

Apple iPhones Newest Advancement

Apple has just released and started selling a new silicon, “smart battery case” for the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR models. According to USA Today, more than eleven million batteries were replaced in iPhones last year alone. This new piece of modern day advancement can make your battery on your iPhone last up to an extra ten hours. The new smart battery cases come in a two wearisome colors (black and white). Internet longevity for the three phones are up to 23 hours. Although the first conviction of these new cases may seem sustainable, consider the price of 130 dollars first. Depending on who you are, 130 dollars is a lot to spend on one phone case. Instead, you could purchase, Apple AirPods, an entirely new iPhone 3 itself, or a much cheaper case along with a wireless iPhone charger. After viewing all this information, I myself would not waste my money on this overpriced Apple accessory. According to Apple, these cases only work on the iPhone XS XS Max and the XR. Each of these phones cost around 900 dollars. So, if you don't own one of these phones already, the combined total would exceed more than 1,000 dollars. In my opinion, that's way too much money when you have better and cheaper options.

This park offers everything from campgrounds, to grills, swimming to archery, hiking to volleyball, snowboarding to sledding, and much more.

Don’t want to leave your furry friends behind? The Mukwonago Park also offers a Dog Exercise Area where dogs can run around and make new friends while exercising and getting a tan of their own. Water is also available in the Dog Exercise Area supplied by the DEA Well Fundraiser. Essentials are available to all visitors such as restrooms, bubblers, and benches to cool off, and be hidden in the shade from the sun. Other essentials, such as bows and arrows, bicycles and RV’s, need to be brought by the visitors.&nbsp; When does the park open? This park is open to anyone from sunrise to 10pm. St. Patrick's Day Fun Facts

Chicago has been celebrating Saint Patrick by dumping green dye into the Chicago River since 1962. It takes 40 tons of dye to get the river to a suitably festive shade!

St. Patrick wasn’t Irish himself. He was born to Roman parents in Scotland or Wales.

How did the shamrock become associated with Saint Patrick? According to Irish legend, the saint used the three-leafed plant to describe the Holy Trinity.

New York City’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the world’s largest parades. Since 1762, marchers have walked up Fifth Avenue on foot – the parade doesn’t allow modern vehicles.

The tradition in America is to pinch anyone who isn't wearing green on St. Patrick's Day. Legend has it that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, who&nbsp;pinch anyone they see.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a huge deal across the ocean; it’s a national holiday in both Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Every Year, 2.7 million adoptable cats and dogs are euthanized in the U.S due to overcrowded animal shelters. Hundreds could be saved if more families choose adoption over buying. Not only does adopting supply you with a lifelong companion and make space for another dog in need, but also helps battle puppy mills. (A puppy mill is an inhumane high-volume dog-breeding facility that neglects puppies and their mothers, then sells them in bulk for profits.) Internet sales, flea-markets, and large chain pet stores receive a majority of their dogs from puppy mills. Female dogs are forced to have litter after litter, and due to poor sanitation and veterinary access, puppies and their mother often have health issues. Once they are unable to reproduce anymore, they are killed or abandoned. Few dogs that are lucky enough to be saved are found in extremely poor conditions. Many are cramped in rusty cages, with fur matted with filth and eyes crusted with dirt. Some may have never even seen sunlight.

Help put these disgusting operations out of business by adopting. If adoption is not the right choice for you and your family, know that fostering is always a option. Fostering an animal is giving them love, a bed, food and a place to stay while a forever home is in the process of being found. Another thing to be aware of is that if a dog or cat is not an animal that is the right fit for you, rabbits, and other small mammals are pets available for adoption. A great place to find a companion animal is at our local Waukesha Haws.

January 18th, 2019 a team was born. As you may have guessed, volleyball season has started, and we are once again determined to take on our competition. Last season, as seventh graders, both Park View girls volleyball teams went undefeated with no lost matches and one lost set. At tryouts, the turnout was very intimidating. You could tell that the amount of talent rose the intensity for many players. As the gym felt like it may burn in flames, the encouragement and optimism from every girl cooled the ignite. Many girls showed drive and open mindedness to our very beloved sport. Nice job to all! But as the season has now approached, our games take place at ParkView after school. Anyone may attend, and we love to have as much support as possible.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Our teams are made up of a mix of many girls with different interests and talents. This being said, the diversity does not prevent us from working as a team and together expressing our similar goals and love for the game. This season, we are focusing on the basics of the game, the importance of communication, and creating a family within our team. All of the players work exceedingly hard to improve and develop the skills involved in the game. Practice everyday sometimes becomes quite arduous when school work and other activities come into play. But, as it may be difficult to balance, it is great for time management and becoming liable for all of the responsibilities a student has. Now as the season continues, I hope that our teams have the best of luck, and many accomplishments to come.

Usually, when you have a sibling in your school you think they are annoying, but they actually help you…sometimes. I have two brothers: one a sophomore in college and another who is a sophomore in high school. Being the youngest in the family puts me at an advantage in school because I can ask, "Did you have this teacher?" and "What do you do in that class?" When you have an older sibling in school you have a better chance of getting good grades. A study by the University of Essex says, “Known as the spillover effect; when the older child does well in school, the chance of a younger sibling doing well is almost double.” Some possible advantages of having a sibling in school are teachers and other kids will know you because of your sibling. Although there are positives to having a sibling in school there are also negatives. If you get in trouble at school chances are your brother or sister is going to tell your parents. "The US has approximately 5% of the world's population and 42% of civilian gun ownership”,&nbsp;Paul Specht, a writer from Politifact explains. These numbers effect how American citizens live their lives in public places. Tragedy after tragedy, shootings have become a feared event. These occurrences date back to the shooting of Lincoln. Although prominent people are targeted, these acts display the harm of gun misuse. As we citizens dispute and take a stand against gun violence policies, Stephanie Ebbs, ABC news states, ¨Republicans have said efforts to prevent future mass shootings should focus on mental health.¨ This means the stability of the guns is not a worry, it's the stability of the user we should monitor.

As some may disagree, Ebbs also presents, “You could pass a law that makes it hard to get this kind of gun in a new condition. But you are going to struggle to keep it out of the hands of someone who has decided that’s what they want to use because there are so many out there already grandfathered in." Passing a law seems like the best option in a world of mass shootings. Since the incident at Columbine High School, there have been 49 shootings in the US. With the amount of gun ownership, America’s violent status is not going away. Washington Post reported in 2017 that “America owned about 46 percent of the entire global stock of 857 million civilian firearms." Owning perilous weapons is unnecessary. In a room full of destructive firearms, anyone would become as mentally balanced as a table with no stand. They do not cause good, because all they have ever done is display devastation. This being said, what have we done as a nation to ease the fear and distress? Like every school, Park View practices active shooter drills twice a year with officers that roam the building. But is that enough? Can one American citizen do enough to protect others from the harm a gun can produce?

People walk from store to store with Espresso Love coffee in their hands and smiles on their chilled faces, as they delight in the items that only Mukwonago has to offer.&nbsp;Downtown Mukwonago is the livelihood of our town, and the hub for all activities and events that take place. Even though our little town has started to bloom with publicity, doesn't mean that it couldn’t use some “TLC”. Did you know that we have our own potato factory and doll shop here in Mukwonago?&nbsp;They are placed right in the middle of our downtown! These businesses/buildings you might not know of because they rarely receive publicity, along with the stores “Quilt-agious”, “Tattoo Creations”,&nbsp;and “Pretty Nails and Spa”. The antique store “Deja-Vu”, just went out of business, so we could do something with that as well. In order to increase the livelihood of Mukwonago,&nbsp;we should turn these stores that are not getting use into shops that could serve our community everyday, like restaurants, clothing boutiques, interior design shops,&nbsp;or book stores.

We could also tear down the “Deja-Vu” building in exchange for a grassy park area with the opportunity to host live music on certain nights of the week. These changes to our downtown could attract more visitors from other towns. With some money, hard work, determined entrepreneurs, and creative minds, we could bring downtown Mukwonago from messy, to magnificent!

Building a Bridge Abroad

To most, foreign languages are labeled as “too hard” and “a waste of time,” but the pastime that no one wants, actually has many benefits. Multilangualism can improve your “... cognitive and analytical abilities,” (The importance of learning foreign languages in today's world, Linked In) and it can broaden your employment options.

In addition to enhancing your learning abilities, “... the ability to communicate in multiple languages is becoming more and more important in the increasingly integrated global business community.” says Trinity in the article “Importance of Language – Why Learning a Second Language is Important.” Most of us already know that multilangualism is wanted in many fields, but the ability to speak fluently in another language can build business bonds. A doctor that can speak to all of his or her clients will make everyone feel safe and at ease.

Learning a foreign language improves concentration and can help you persevere. These are some of the traits that will also make you successful in school. Learning a second language increases your memory, and provides more benefits along the road. Learning a second language also helps you better understand your native language. Herr Weber, a German teacher at PVMS, once quoted, “Man kennt nicht die eigene Sprache bis man eine fremdsprache kennt.” which translates to: “One cannot speak his own language, until they have learned a foreign language.”

Foreign language. It should be people’s favorite pastime. Learning a second language is something that can help you remember things, and it can expand your employment options. Learning a new language is like fog. Once you are immersed in it, you won’t be able to find your way out.

Calling all Park View Musicians! It’s your chance to participate in the 2019 Solo and Ensemble being held on March 6th, at Greendale High School. Solo and Ensemble is an opportunity for student’s to be judged on a select piece of music and receive feedback on their performance. Depending on the difficulty of the piece, musicians have the option to be chosen for the WSMA State Competition held on Saturday, May 4th. These competitions are a way for musicians to challenge themselves to grow and expand their musical talents.

The Solo and Ensemble Contest is available to most instruments including those not offered at the school like guitar and piano. If you are interested in Solo and Ensemble be sure to sign up quickly by asking one of our very helpful music teachers at Park View, Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Wildeman, or Mrs. Carloni. Need to contact a friend? There’s technology for that. Forgot the measurement in a recipe? There’s technology for that, too. As humans, we rely on technology to get through the day, whether it’s to check the weather or send a text. This year, and many years to come, futuristic technology is evolving for better and worse, so, what does it look like?

1.25 million people die each year because of careless drivers. As an effect, car companies all over the world are competing to make the first “Self-Driving Car”. First, it would annihilate car accidents, and injuries due to them. These cars will also get rid of all traffic lights and stop signs because the cars communicate with each other, giving no purpose to signs whatsoever. Furthermore, “Self-Driving Cars” will make the air cleaner. Normal cars use gasoline, which pollutes the air. These “Self-Driving Cars” run on electricity and this will make the air we breathe cleaner and healthier. Chris Dixon from Business Insider says, “...Germany produces so much renewable energy, it sometimes produces even more than it can use.” Cars that can drive themselves are a superlative example of new technology that is coming out.

There is no doubt that technology helps us, and it is also no doubt that we are coming up with bigger and better technology. The future holds unimaginable technological possibilities that will change how we live our lives for the better.

A home, a brothel, a restaurant, and a hotel were Heaven City's many uses throughout its long life. Heaven City is a mansion on top of hill on the edge of the Fox River, and it has quite a past full of murder, illegal activity, and mafia. Back in the nineteen forties, Heaven City was a famous and well-known brothel where mafia men like Al Capone would go to hide from the law and after robbing a bank or committing murder. There's also some secrets in the innards of Heaven City that might be the reason it was such a popular place for the mafia. There are secret rooms and passageways hidden throughout the building for criminals to escape through. The passages lead right to the river where criminals could avoid the law in the dark of night.

Nowadays the building is believed to be haunted and many television shows have visited the site to talk to ghosts. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there is no doubt the passageways are creepy.Overall Heaven City is a great window into the past with wonderful architecture from the 40’s and all the memorabilia. When you go there you feel like you've traveled back in time, the time of mobsters and Al Capone. Heaven City has had quite the reputation throughout its long life of entertainment, mystery, and crime,

Sadly, Heaven City has opened and closed continuously throughout the years. Owners can't seem to get the recipe right for a successful restaurant. Currently it remains closed so you won't be able to visit this historical sight. However, the place is too intriguing and someday there will be the right people to bring Heaven City back to its former glory days.

Our first Irish-inspired restaurant can be found in Franklin, Wisconsin. This casual Irish-American pub is offering everything from Wonton Wrapped Mozzarella Sticks, to their famous Irish Lamb Stew. Given these Irish inspired fares, you can find these choices be it March or December. Mulligan's is sure to make your St Patrick's Day a lucky one.

If Mulligan's Pub was too refined for your taste, you could always spend your St. Paddy's Day with a good old Shamrock Shake at McDonald's! This fast food joint has been serving quality food with quick service since 1954, and with age comes experience. So head on down to McDonald's for your St. Patrick's Day and have a little "Luck O' the Irish" in your Shamrock Shake.

This March 14th is the 30th annual German Day at UM-Madison. German Professor Charles James of UM-Madison and several of his colleagues as well as some high school teachers set up the competition day in 1990 with the sole purpose of bringing the different German programs from all over the state together. Initially, as few as twelve schools participated and now as many as fifty schools are included in the competitions. An estimated 10,000-12,000 students have taken part in the day over the years. Mukwonago, Nicolet, and Deforest have been the only three schools to attend all 30, and Mukwonago has won the competition more times than any other school. Some of the activities include spelling, poem reciting, skits, solo and ensemble singing, a poster competition based on the theme of the year, and Pictionary and Charades competitions. As of this year, the high school will be sending students to participate in poem reading, skits, and spelling. Park View will be sending two singers, a spelling team and some students reciting poems. If this sounds like something you would want to take part in, contact Herr Weber and ask for a permission slip as soon as possible, money (A small fee of $8 + lunch money) and a parent signature are due March 5th.

This school year, PVMS is offering tennis to seventh graders and eighth graders. There will be a seventh grade girls tennis team, a seventh grade boys tennis team, an eighth grade girls tennis team and eighth grade boys tennis team. It isn't too late to join!

PREDICTION: Mukwonago will prevail over Stoughton because two of their top wrestlers did not perform well at state individual meets.

Mukwonago High School has had their best varsity wrestling team ever, with every weight being filled with a excellent competitor. Our school's wrestling program is fantastic this year due to wrestlers putting in extra time on the mat. They’ve all been doing the additional practices, weight lifting, and their jobs on the team to make them one of the best in the state. The Mukwonago team is ranked 2nd in the state by the WWF (Wisconsin Wrestling Federation). In front of them in 1st place is Stoughton High School. They have a full team with two national champs, and five state qualifiers. This year Mukwonago Wrestlers can be the first to win a state championship for Mukwonago. The reasons this team can be number one in the state is due to their recent success. The team has beaten some of the best in the country. For instance, they have out-maneuvered Shakopee High School, ranked number one in Minnesota. There is also an opportunity to beat Stoughton - Mukwonago has more seniors and a more experienced team. On the other hand, Stoughton could still be the high school state champion team. So far all of their wrestlers have been wrestling for nine or more years. Obviously, more experience is better. They’ve also been down this path and been state champions before. If they have their full team with no injuries they are almost unbeatable. Stoughton also has one of the best coaching systems in the state. However, injuries, losing wrestle-off's, being suspended could effect this outcome. That’s what gives Mukwonago their chance to beat them.

Students who are in their second year here at Park View will know that there was no Drama Club last year. But luckily, it has been brought back. For those of you not in Drama Club, we are&nbsp;delighted to announce that this year’s play, Orange is the New Glass, will be held at the high school on May 11th and 12th. The play is a futuristic version of Cinderella, where the world is obsessed with pop culture and social media, fairy godmothers are lawyers, and the Three Little Pig-arazzi chase celebrities. But when Cinderella leaves her self-absorbed prince and winds up in jail with an unlikely girl squad, she starts a revolution.

Tryouts for the play were January 14th and 15th after school, and the cast list posted just a few days later. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 4:00. Good job to everyone who tried out for the play; it's not exactly easy to put yourself out there like that. If you are someone who tried out, even if you didn’t get the part you wanted, you are really brave and courageous.

In recent years, Apple has continuously upped their prices. But what makes their customers keep buying the products? Mastufa Ahmed of Techradar concluded it has something to do with their immersive experience. Everyone who has ever bought anything from Apple knows from the time you first walk into a store until you receive your device in near-perfect packaging it is an extremely positive experience. Many times the whole process even makes customers buy more than one item because of their extreme ability to integrate and intertwine with each other.

Apple’s products are obviously tediously thought out to the point where they work so well together you almost have to buy both. AirPods, Apple’s newest craze, for example cannot be used without another Apple product such as an iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Some people think that removing the headphone jack from recent models of the iPhone was a bad decision, but in reality it was just a well thought out plan to get more people to buy AirPods.

Many Critics will say Apple is overpriced, where in reality when you buy Apple products, you are paying for the experience that comes along with it. Apple creates a unique ecosystem with its consumers that competitors simply do not have. By just walking into a store, Apple’s skillfully trained employees will teach you to use the products you already own, or allow you to browse from their highly interactive displays of devices.

Siri is also an application unique to Apple. According to Todd Haselton from CNBC, when Siri first launched on iPhone and iPad and then on Apple TV, “It became a familiar voice to answer your questions, no matter where you were.” It was also something solely associated with Apple to build their brand. Which is why it makes sense when MediaKix says Siri receives ten billion requests each month.

Apple’s triumphs in the industry have certainly paid off and their loyal customers are exceedingly thrilled to find out what they will do next.

Why Are Apple’s Sales Falling?

As China’s economy is falling, Apple is feeling the pain. With the population growing, and job opportunities decreasing, people don’t have the cash to pay for a new iPhone. Not only Apple is suffering, expensive restaurants in Beijing and Shanghai sit empty, and five star hotel rates suddenly tumbled in December. Some analysts say that Apple isn’t tumbling because of the economy, but they are slipping to the 5th phone seller in China. Other domestic phone sellers have overtaken Apple, making quality phones at a better 

price. Another reason Apple sales are slumping is their products are too durable. People buy a phone that can last them longer, which means they don't have to return for years to buy a new phone.

In the US, smartphone users upgrade roughly every 24 months, now up to 36 months. China is Apple’s third biggest industry after the US and Europe, accounting for 52 billion dollars of Apple’s annual pay. Without China, Apple could fall and for many that could mean no source for handset devices. Apple really shook the Wall Street Journal when announcing they weren’t meeting sales expectations. Even though Apple is declining in their sales, don’t let that set aside the fact that they still account for 90% of sales in the handset industry.

Many people believe that Apple cannot blame China for its falling sales. When you take a look at other luxury brands, their sales are still doing exceptionally well. This means that Apple’s sales aren’t just slumping because their products are higher end, because there’s proof that other high end companies are still doing well, so what is Apple doing wrong? If they want to stay on top of the technology industry, they better make a plan to get out of this hole they dug themselves.

Almost every school has a student government. This is where the students will help organize and advertise projects for the school like food drives, spirit weeks, and fundraisers for charities. Student Government allows students to connect with their schools and allows them to be able to take part in their school, allowing the student voices to be heard. In the past, Park View has had fun with our Dude be Nice projects, candy cane sales, charities, and many more. But, students have many events to look forward to in the next few months: ~ Student government members will be making Easter egg cards and delivering them to Linden Grove Senior Center. ~ Active members enjoy a field trip to Stonefire Pizza at the end of the year. ~8th grade dance and preparation is coming up on May 3rd. ~8th grade dance theme will be voted on at lunch for all 8th graders. ~ A field trip to the zoo is coming up on May 24th, for the winning spirit point house!

Nike has always been a favorite of sneakerheads, with the well known “check” that is on the many different shoes that they produce, however, brands such as Adidas, Puma, and even Under Armour, also share the spotlight when it comes to popular shoes. A problem with purchasing such hyped, and coveted items, is that they often sell out faster than you can even click purchase, and oftentimes, when resold, the markups on the price can be hundreds, or even thousands more than the original price. If you want to catch a chance at buying any of the shoes discussed, you better be quick, and set an alarm so you are ready to buy. One of these shoes is the Nike Air Fear Of God 1, a highly anticipated shoe, which is a collaboration with Fear of God, a clothing company owned by designer Jerry Lorenzo. Nike is like the Picasso of shoes, because the designs are always a work of art. This shoe, according to Kicksonfire.com, was priced at $350 when it was released on January 19th 2019, the shoe sold out extremely fast, and within a few hours, it was already being resold. On the other spectrum of shoes, there are also many Adidas shoes that were released this year. One of these shoes is the LXCON shoes. These shoes inspired by “a classic pair of running sneakers from 1994” were released February 2nd 2019, and will be priced at a price of $120. So sneakerheads, watch out if you want a chance to get any upcoming shoes in the future, because chance is that they'll be gone in the blink of an eye.

Spread the Word to End the Word March 2019

Best Buddies International and Special Olympics partner annually for Spread the Word to End the Word Day. This international initiative hopes to build awareness for communities to rally people to pledge respect toward all individuals, making the world a more accepting place. The goal is to stop hurtful language and banish prejudices. Since 2009, progress has been made towards promoting changing attitudes about people with disabilities. Teens and young adults, specifically, are standing up for inclusion and respect for all at school and in their communities. Here at Park View, our Best Buddies Club will kick off awareness the first week of March and follow with special activities for all students during the month of March.

Anyone can join Best Buddies - just see Ms. Dake in Room 8! Upcoming events include bowling at Jay's Lanes and a fantastic cook-out!

Mario’s Pizza,  located on 225 Bayview Rd. in Mukwonago, is a great option for Italian food. It is almost hidden in the strip mall, which houses Affordable Cuts and Bucky’s Fine Meat &amp; Sausage. Their menu has many options like appetizers, salads, calzones, specialty pizzas, deep dish or stuffed pizza, sandwiches, Friday fish fry, and pasta. Mario’s Pizza is known for take out, but they also have different specials on the menu for people who choose to dine in. According to Tripadvisor, Mario’s Pizza has a rating of 4.0/5 and has 45 reviews which range from average to excellent. Many people enjoy the delivery aspect and their great deals.&nbsp;

There are many intriguing events coming to Mukwonago. At the end of February you can see The Addams Family, the musical for this spring. This classic story is being transformed with singing and dancing. Lukas Schreiber is starring as the lead role of Gomez Addams and Kayleigh Ruzga is starring as Morticia Addams. It is being directed by Allan Zablocki and the producer is Mary Coughlin. The conductor of the musical pit is Dale Wimer. Tickets will are available for purchase. The first show is on Friday, February 22nd and the last show on Sunday, March 3rd.

Our very own Park View Middle School is also performing a show: Orange is the New Glass. This thrilling play is a twist on the classic Cinderella stoy featuring, Madeline Wilhelm as Cinderella and Mackenzie Somers as the Prince. It also includes appearances from other fairy tale characters such as Snow White, being played by Andie Barron, and Sleeping Beauty, being played by Nicole Plitt. This show is being directed by Mrs. Loehe. This energetic performance will astonish you with the amount of talent!

In March, Mukwonago’s Got Talent is returning for a second year. This performance is being put on by the Mukwonago Rotary Club. Performers compete for a third, second, and first place title. This riveting show casts talent of all ages, from children to grown adults. For audition information visit the Mukwonago Rotary Club’s website. The show is on March 16th, from 6 PM - 9PM. Tickets are only $25 per adult and $15 per child. With these prices it’s almost impossible to say no!
