Stay, To Go

You were never really there,
like a figment of my imagination.
You left me haunted, in denial.
You can't leave when you were never meant to stay.
I spared you in all the words I was meant to say.

Maybe I gave too much.
But why did you have to stay?
Feeding into my emotions like some type of game.
The words I speak have never been spoken,
therefore I taught you things never heard of.

Why didn't I take it and run?
The lies on hand.
The deception hides itself.
I gave too much but not enough.
All the words I needed to say,
shatter on cobblestone.
I'll find glass in the scars,
you made me feel like would disappear.
All for you.

I'd let the fire burn me from my eyes as I yelled.
Why did you play a game?
A game I never played.
Why did you put on an act, a facade?
A never ending trail of lies.

You knew I couldn't scream it out,
the truth.
I was never someone you expected to care about.
You'll play around with my life and forget about it.

It was all for nothing,
I've done too much.
Drove you away with dramatics.
Until you were just...
imaginary.
Maybe it was all my fault,
but why did you need to stay?
