Google Drive Folders

Teachers can also link materials to a GOOGLE DRIVE folder which pupils will have access to also. This can be located in the drop down menu of the STREAM.

Your child will receive an invite from their teacher to join the class folder.

Alternatively your child will have been given a class code to join.

An easy guide for parents and pupils

Google Classroom is your child’s digital link to learning.

It enables teachers to post learning tasks and materials to support your child’s learning, as well as newsletters and much more!

Google Classroom can be accessed from an iPad, laptop, PC or mobile device anywhere and at anytime.

Setting up Google Classroom is easy.  Use your child’s school iPad to follow these simple steps.

From the Home Screen locate the Google Classroom icon. 

This will already be downloaded on your child’s iPad and set to your child’s Prescot Primary email address.

The Stream

The Stream is the main page of Google Classroom where teachers will post announcements, newsletters, images (similar to a Facebook News Feed or Twitter Feed).

Pupils can be given permission to make comments on streams too, however this is not always the case.

Assignments

Sometimes teachers will post useful resources on the Stream, but sometimes they may set ASSIGNMENTS instead.

Assignments will appear in the Stream, but the best place to access them is on the CLASSWORK page.

Sometimes teachers will post an assignment and ask that it be ‘turned in’ once completed (more likely in KS2).

This is likely to be in google docs or a form that needs submitting.

Once your child has access to the class they will be able to see a list of the classes they are enrolled in.

Click on the CLASSWORK tab for a list of assignments.

Folders are a way of organising and storing information in Google Classroom so that the Stream doesn’t become too busy.

Teachers can create subject folders (eg Maths, English) so that pupils can locate materials more easily relating to the different subjects.

You should be able to see these in the CLASSWORK section.

Name

Safari may block some audio or video from playing automatically and ‘read to me’ will skip these. You can configure this in Safari’s preferences.
