Hello from Miss Holli to all of my friends from McBride Library story time. I really do miss you, but in the meantime, I thought we could still have story time even if we can't be together.
Let's start with our "Let's all clap" song. Make sure you say your name and you can sing the song for anyone who is helping you with the recording today.
Hello Neighbor
What do ya say!
It's going to be a beautiful day.
So clap your hands and stomp your feet.
Turn around and take a seat.
We are getting ready to start a new month. Can you guess what it is? It starts with an A sound. Hmmm....if you guessed April, you are right!
April will keep us busy with some sunny days and rainy days, Easter, and hopefully lots of time to go outside and play.
Since April showers bring May flowers, I thought we would talk about rainy days for our first week in April. Please enjoy this book, The Rainy Day, by Anna Milbourne and Sarah Gill.
Sometimes rainy days are fun. It's fun to see animals outside in the rain and I bet you like to splash in the puddles. Maybe you would like to try a science experiment. You can make your own rain cloud in a glass or a jar.
You will need:
1 glass or jar
Shaving Cream
Blue Food Coloring
Water
Fill your jar about three quarters full with water from the tap.
Use the shaving cream to create a cloud on top of the water.
Let the foam settle a bit.
Now drop food coloring into the 'cloud'. As your cloud fills up, the food coloring will fall down into the water creating a rain-like effect.

How do clouds work?
Clouds are formed when water vapor rises into the air. When the vapor hits cold air, it turns back into droplets of water. Those tiny drops of water floating in the air collect and "stick" together to form clouds. When clouds get so full of water that they can't hold any more, the water falls back to the ground as rain.
We have time for one more rainy day story before it's time to go. Enjoy We Play on a Rainy Day by Angela Madearis.
I hope you had fun!
Let's do our goodbye song and we will see each other soon!
