The monarch butterfly's life cycle begins as an egg.
The egg grows for 3-7 days.
Out of the egg hatches a caterpillar.
The caterpillar's main goal is to eat as much food as it can, so that is can grow.
When the caterpillar is done growing, it forms itself into a pupa, also known as a chrysalis.
