Augmented Reality is a tool that allows us to have interactive experiences through technology. The technology makes it appear like objects have been added to our world!

How can Augmented Reality be used in the classroom?

Augmented Reality can be used to enhance all subject areas. It makes learning experiences more relatable to students' lives since the technology appears to be integrated with their real surroundings.

1- JigSpace- Teachers have access to pre-made but customizable 3D objects that they or students can use for presentations. This app is great because of the customization options. I recommend using this for social studies presentations about artifacts. 2- solAR- Solar Systems in AR- Instead of just looking at a still image of our Solar System, users can make it appear as if the planets are in the room with them. This app is great because it can easily adjust the scale of the AR to fit the user's space. I recommend using this for science review (especially great for 5th-grade science standards).

5- Nytra- Instead of just reading a textbook, students may scan specific pages in order to pull up correlating videos, images, animations, and more. This app is great because it teaches more content than provided in textbooks. I recommend using this for any independent reading activities.

Augmented Reality uses a device's camera to look at our world. When special software or apps have been added to the device, it will appear as if additional objects are added on top of the typical surroundings.

3- Google Translate- Point the camera at text on anything from street signs to menus and instantly translate to another language of your choice. This app is great because users do not have to type in order to translate text. I recommend using this for world language explorations. 4- AR Flashcards- Animal Alphabet - Young students can point the device at flashcards in order to have 3D animals pop up. This app is great because it will also use audio to play the letter and animal name. I recommend using this for ELA rotations/centers for young students.
