We are Real Life Heroes

We have been using 3d shapes to build models and talking about their properties. We went on a shape walk around the school to find 2d shapes.

Remembrance Day is a special time to remember all of the brave soldiers and people who died in the war. We worked in the Creative Area using a range of materials to create our own poppies.

We have discovered lots of new words and their meaning.

As part of our homework, we had the challenge of finding out about the famous artist Georges Seurat. We discovered that he was born in France and was famous for producing paintings using small dots and this technique is called 'Pointillism'.

We know that a Dentist is a real life hero because they help keep our teeth and gums healthy. We spoke about the importance of keeping our teeth clean using a toothbrush and toothpaste.

We found lots of information about real life heroes by reading non-fiction books. A non-fiction book has a contents, index and glossary page. We know how to find information quickly by using the contents page.

Class 3 hope you have enjoyed reading all about our learning this term.

We begun our new topic 'We are Real Life Heroes' by working in our keyworker groups and discussing what a 'real life hero' is. We know that they help us and keep us safe.

We had lots of fun on our 'real life hero' day! We were able to come to school dressed as our favourite hero and we had lots of different types from police officers to a construction worker.

We used clear voices to share a fact about our real life hero.

We helped to raise money for Children in Need by wearing our spots! We came to school covered in colourful spots and listened to Pudsey Bear telling us all about the importance of Children in Need and how it helps others who are less fortunate than ourselves.

We have been thinking about all the ways we can be thoughtful and kind to others. We even have a 'Kindness Elf' who looks out for people being kind. Here are some the children who have received a certificate from the Kindness Elf.

<br/>We looked at photographs of firefighters from a long time ago in the past and compared them to photographs of firefighters now in the present.

We had to put a circle around pictures from the past and say a fact about firefighters from the past too.

We loved watching our Christmas Production with our friends! 

<br/>We really enjoyed our special day with Santa via zoom and a show from Coverdale Puppets. We even had party games and food!
