Naughty Bus

We sequenced the story of 'The Naughty Bus' once we had read the story. We discussed how it is important to put things in the right order and we looked at the beginning, middle and end of a story.

We even used technology to draw a story map. 

We then drew a story map as a whole class. We worked independently to draw a story map each and used it to help us retell the story whilst being recorded. 

We discovered all about Chinese New Year and looked at a range of Chinese items.

London is famous for lots of different things especially landmarks! A landmark is an important building or place that we can recognise and will help us find our way if we are lost! Here are some we have been learning about.

This is Buckingham Palace. The Queen lives here and she is very important because she is in charge of our country. Louie

The clock is called Big Ben and it is the Queen Elizabeth Tower. Oliver

London Bridge has two towers. The bridge lifts up to let boats said under. Maisie

During our RE lessons we have been learning about the story of Jesus and the First Disciples. First we listened to the story of Jesus and how he had lots of special friends especially Simon, James and John. They decided to leave their work as fishermen behind and become a follower of Jesus which is known as a disciple. As a whole class, we then retold the story using a variety of different props and resources. 

We began by painting paper blue which would be the backdrop to our work. We then drew a skyline of London using black pencils, crayons and pastels. We added each of the landmarks to our skyline and spoke about them to our partner.

I have been to London with my family. I liked seeing Big Ben. It is really tall. Izzy

We are continuing to learn about the different seasons of the year. As we are now in Winter, we discovered how the weather has changed and we can spot different signs of winter whilst we are out and about. 

It is cold in Winter and we wear coats with hats and scarves to keep warm. Charley

We compared our city landmarks with those of London. In Liverpool we have famous landmarks which are the Liver Birds, St George's Hall, the Albert Dock and Pier Head to name a few. We are lucky to have two cathedrals and two football teams! Our favourite landmark is the Superlambanana!!! We had lots of fun designing our own lambananas and working collaboratively to make a large scale lambanana.

This year we are taking part in the 'WOW Living Streets Walk to school scheme'. We are able to earn badges when we have walked, travelled by scooter or bike. Each day we log how we travelled to school on the Living Streets website. Already some of us have earned a badge!

If you walk to school it will keep you healthy. Alice

We have breakfast in the morning then we get ready for school. Isla

We worked together to sort a range of pictures and put them in order. We discussed how we do certain things at different times of the day. Such as we have breakfast when we wake up but we wouldn't have our evening meal as soon as we wake up!

We have been learning about London which is where the 'Naughty Bus' lives. We know that London is the capital city of England and that there are four countries which make up the United Kingdom. They are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Children's Mental Health Week 7-11th February Dress to Express

This week we have been learning all about how it is important to tell a grown up if we are feeling sad or worried. We met each of our 'Forefield 5' characters who each have special powers such as Active Man who likes to keep active and healthy, Go Go Giver who likes to do kind things for people. We thought about which character we would like to be and why. On Friday it was Dress to Express Day. We wore our own clothes as a way of expressing who we are!

This term we have been developing our knowledge of how numbers are composed and learning lots of different ways to make numbers up to 5. We enjoy learning with the Numberblocks!

We have been busy developing our creative skills by designing and making a bus. First we designed the bus thinking about details such as colour, size and shape. We then made our bus using a range of junk model making materials. We used boxes, glue, paper, scissors and masking tape to join boxes together. We had lots of fun and love the buses we have made!

We looked at different pictures and sorted them into which were hot and which were cold. We then used our senses to feel a cold ice cube and a hot hand warmer and compared how they had different temperatures.

We used cubes to build tall and short towers. We looked at which tower had 'more' cubes and which had 'fewer'.

Ice cubes are cold because they are frozen water. Frankie
