The Gingerbread Man

We shared our summer boxes with our new friends.

We were able to talk about our memories and special days out. We listened carefully to our friends and spoke in a loud, clear voice.

 We went on an Autumn walk and used our senses to discover the changes that are happening as we move from Summer to Autumn. We found lots of leaves which were all different shapes, sizes and colours. We spoke about how the leaves change from green to yellow, brown, orange and red as Autumn begins.

We worked in the play dough area to make our own Gingerbread Men. We rolled the dough and used the cutters. We added buttons and a face too!

We love to paint in class 3 so we decided to paint our very own Gingerbread Man using paint, paintbrushes and water.

The Gingerbread Man left Class 3 a video! He was on the loose in our classroom so we decided to make posters to put up around our school for everyone to keep a look out for him!

We celebrated Harvest Festival with a special assembly in the school hall with Mrs Haney. We recited rhymes and poems all about Harvest to our friends.

During our first days in school we had lots of fun meeting new friends and exploring our classroom.

When we returned to school after the weekend something strange had happened in our classroom!

We could see flour footprints on the floor and different cooking utensils were scattered around the classroom!

The Gingerbread Man left a recipe for us to make our own biscuits. We followed the recipe carefully and added the ingredients to make our very own Gingerbread Men.

We enjoy trying new food every lunchtime in the dining room with our friends. It is important to be able to use a knife and fork correctly now we are in Reception. 

In the story, the Gingerbread Man can't cross the river so we designed and built bridges to help him cross it safely.

We placed the Gingerbread Men on a baking tray and Mrs Porter put them in the oven to bake.

We loved eating our Gingerbread Men biscuits!

We explored printing using the leaves and autumnal coloured paint such as yellow, orange, brown and red.

We carried out an investigation to see what would happen to the Gingerbread Man if we left him in water overnight.

The water will make the Gingerbread Man all soggy and wet - Louie

We predicted it would go soggy and crumble due to the water. We were right!
