My colourful Drive
Beautiful diversity
My whole world since birth

Now I must leave it
I will lose my home and friend
A new world awaits

Quiet suburban streets
Only trees, birds breathe the air
This could be me too

How Different the World Looks

She had fared better,
Days and nights of sniping and snapping,
Overcrowded and unbearable living—
But the rains finally abate.

With a curious tilt of head,
A gentle change;
Sunny skies and fresher air,
She spots a small island.

The discovery of land,
Her family’s jubilation, laughing and crying,
A new sense of hope and peace;
How different the world looks.

My words came from the book The World of Angles, by Gossamer Penwyche. The original text was a short retelling of the story Noah’s Ark from the doves perspective. I chose this text became I felt the symbolism of leaving anxiety and searching for the hope and peace that is yet to come.
