Where the Vikings originated from,

The Vikings originated from the three countries of Scandinavia;

Norway
Denmark
Sweden
From the late 8th century to the late 11th century, Vikings raided, pirated, traded and settled throughout parts of Europe.
They explored both westward to Iceland, Greenland and Vinland, as well as eastward to Russia, Iran and Arabia.
In the countries they raided and settled, the period is called the

The term ''Vikings'' also commonly includes the inhabitants of the Norse homeland.
The Vikings had a profound impact on the history of Scandinavia, the British isles, France and Estonia
The word 'Norse' is the name of the Viking people
Vikings are incredible sailors! They sail the seas in a type of boat called a longboat. Vikings sailed up to the Mediterranean, North Africa and were the first Europeans to reach North America!
Did you know that the Normans came from the Norse colonies?!

FOOD
The Vikings diet mainly consisted of meat and fish.
This meat consists of cows, horses, oxen, goats, pigs, sheep, chickens and ducks.
The fish they ate are; salmon, trout and eels
Hunting for the Vikings was quite the messy job!
The Vikings would pursue their prey and when they catch it they would use their tools (next page) to cut open the animal and feast on the inside
