Welcome to Lomeshaye Junior School’s core value booklet. In this booklet, you will learn what our core values are, gain an understanding of their importance and discover how we live and learn ‘The Lomeshaye Way’.

Before we explore our core values, it is important for us to understand what core values are.

Values are a set of important beliefs or expectations for us to live by in our school. Like the core of an apple which prevents the apple from falling apart, our values run through the core of our school. Without them, our learners, staff and wider community would not experience the safe, happy and successful school in which we feel incredibly privileged to be part of.

Our core values also enable us to live through and achieve our school vision which was created collaboratively by everyone who is part of our school.

Our Vision
Lomeshaye is a school where our vision is to educate all learners to the highest levels of academic achievement, to enable them to flourish and expand their potential, and to prepare them to become engaged, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society.

To achieve this, learners will access a deep and enriched curriculum which will equip them with purposeful knowledge, skills and vocabulary delivered by a passionate and committed school community.

Our Core Values

At Lomeshaye, we have strong core values that are evident as soon as you enter our school building. When people visit our school, we want them to leave us with the feeling that at Lomeshaye Junior School our values are lived and shared by all.

To live by our values for an hour or day is achievable for most, but the real achievement is to do this all of the time. It takes hard work, concentration and lots of practise. It takes someone who is amazing, dedicated and someone who never gives up. At Lomeshaye, we are wonderful, we are resilient and we always give our best! We believe that living, learning and playing through our core values is the key.

Lomeshaye’s Core Values

Remember, if you look smart, you feel smart, if you feel smart, you work smart. We also are safe when moving through school. We do not want our school building to be a dangerous and a scary place.

Learners who are spotted living ‘The Lomeshaye Way’ will be given a special ‘spotted’ sticker and certificates will be awarded in assemblies to celebrate learners who have demonstrated our school/class focus value.

If you feel safe, you feel confident, if you feel confident, you learn lots! Finally we always demonstrate sensible walking. This keeps us and the school safe and lets everyone know that we are ready to learn.

SMART, SAFE

& SENSIBLE

At our school, we all move around the building smart, safe and sensible (The 3S’s). When we line up and move around the school, we are smart.

Remember, if you look smart, you feel smart, if you feel smart, you work smart. We also are safe when moving through school. We do not want our school building to be a dangerous and a scary place.

If you feel safe, you feel confident, if you feel confident, you learn lots! Finally we always demonstrate sensible walking. This keeps us and the school safe and lets everyone know that we are ready to learn.

What does this look like in our school?
· We line up in a straight line - silent and still.
· We walk around school in a straight, silent and
single file line with our hands by our side.
· We always follow the one was system.
· We walk sensibly, preparing to be ready to learn.

When the bell rings!
When our break is over or it is time for lunch, the bell will be rung twice.

· Stand still, be silent and listen
