Year 5 have enjoyed their topic 'Poles Apart' they have read the class story Race to the Frozen North, enjoyed a visit from the planetarium and wrote persuasive speeches  following their learning about renewable energy and climate change.  They enjoyed lots of fun experiments in their science learning on forces!

This term year 1 have looked at the stories Sam's Sandwich, Funny Bones and Owl Babies. The children have enjoyed learning the stories and re-writing their own versions! In maths they have been practising their addition and subtraction skills, 2D &amp; 3D shapes and measuring skills. They have ended the term baking delicious Christmas biscuits and doing fun Christmas crafts.

Gweek class have enjoyed their topic  topic 'Food Glorious Food' and made fruit kebabs!  They also learned lots about the story 'Handa's surprise' and the older children wrote their own stories. They then moved on to their WWII topic and enjoyed building bunkers in the classroom and making air raid sirens using circuit components. Our younger pupils have been learning to work independently for short periods of time and have engaged fantastically with our 'What's in the bag?' sessions. They ended the term making lots of Christmas crafts!

Our reception children have done a fantastic job of settling in!  They enjoyed bringing in their 'all about me' bags to share with their teachers and friends. This term they have enjoyed visits from Falmouth Art Gallery and the Crossing Guard to support their learning and enjoyed an autumn walk to discover the local area and autumnal changes.  Also, we can't forget their amazing performance in the Christmas play!

Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome to our new termly newsletter! In it you will see an overview of all the brilliant learning and experiences that have happened since September. We hope you like the new format and we welcome any feedback about this new way of sharing what’s going on in our amazing school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your incredible support over the last 14 weeks and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back in 2023. I hope you all enjoy a restful, festive period with family and friends and get a chance to recharge. Which just leaves me to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Our nursery children enjoy the free-flow of play and make the most of their outdoor area.  They enjoy water play, painting, playdough and crafts, all activities supporting their learning and development.

Year 6 have been learning about WWII this term.  They have made fantastic Anderson Shelters in their DT lessons and tested their strength and stability.  They have enjoyed their class novel 'Goodnight Mr Tom' and watched the film to support their understanding of the story.  They also enjoyed a visit from Penryn College to take part in some netball sessions!

This term has been a fantastic term for our sporting teams at Penryn Primary Academy!  Our children have shown great teamwork and sportsmanship. Great achievements in Netball, Basketball, Swimming and Football!  Well done to all involved!

"Tapestry keeps you in touch with your child’s day wherever you are"

Tapestry is an easy-to-use and secure online learning journal that helps staff and families across Aspire academies celebrate their children’s learning and development in Nursery and Reception Class. As parents, the first day of handing over your child to the care of another can be an emotional time. As your child adjusts to experiences without you at their childminder, nursery, or school, parents continue to want to share in these times. Tapestry facilitates this by enabling a personal journal, or diary, to build over time. Photographs, videos and notes of special moments are not only recorded, but can be made available regularly and often immediately to you via your iPhone or Android App.

This term year 2 have enjoyed their topic 'Superheroes' they welcomed our local police officers, RNLI and Generation Wild in to school to support their learning - our real life superheroes!  They have learnt about Rosa Parks, Jack Leslie and Mary Seacole. They have finished the term by getting creative and making lots of exciting Christmas decorations and cards!  

School lunches can be booked daily, weekly, monthly or termly on Parent Pay and cost £2.45 per child. If your child is in Year R, 1 or 2 they are entitled to Universal Free school Meals. Year 4 have been learning about the Anglo Saxons, from writing an Interview with a time-traveling Anglo Saxon to building freestanding mini-Saxon huts in DT to exploring the importance and legacy of Sutton Hoo in history as well as the Yule Song in Music which originated with the Anglo Saxons.&nbsp;A busy term in year 4!

Google Classroom - Enhancing connections with learners from school, from home, or on the go.

Think of Google Classroom as your child’s digital link to learning. Teachers use Google Classroom to share resources, links and assignments with pupils during lessons at school across the curriculum. KS2 teachers will use Google Classroom to share homework with students and parents. It is a great tool for keeping up to date with your child’s learning.

Year 3 have enjoyed their topic of Lapland this term.  They have been reading the story 'The Ice Palace' and wrote their own versions.  They have been creative and made Lapland habitats and finished their topic with a trip to Falmouth University for a science talk!  They ended the term writing some Christmas poetry.
