Head of School Welcome

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As spring arrives in Cornwall, we are excited to share our latest news and updates from Penryn Primary Academy. It has been a busy and productive term, and we are so proud of the progress our children have made in their learning and personal development.

Our staff have been working tirelessly, and I am grateful for their dedication and commitment to our pupils' success. They have continued to develop our curriculum offer through various trips and visitors to bring pupils’ learning to life!

We have also celebrated many successes in our extracurricular activities, including sports competitions (hockey, cross-country running, basketball and many more!) and our amazing choir singing their hearts out at ‘Songfest’ at the Princess Pavilion. Our pupils, who attended these events, have shown great enthusiasm and talent, and we are thrilled to see them flourish outside the classroom.

As we approach the end of term, I would like to express our thanks to our parents and guardians for their continued support and involvement in our school community.

Thank you for your ongoing support, we wish you a happy and healthy Easter holidays and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 17th April.

Useful reminders

Wraparound Care
A reminder that the booking system for wraparound care closes on a Thursday evening for the week ahead. Any bookings needed on the day need to be phoned through to the school office by 2pm, please be advised spaces can not be guaranteed on the day. Thank you for your support with this.

Lost Property
The lost property boxes in the KS1 and KS2 reception areas are overflowing! If you are missing any items, please come and have a look through these boxes. We will be going through these by the end of May and any unnamed items will be passed to the local charity shops.

Support our Parent Code of Conduct 
By working in harmony together, we create a positive learning experience for all. We are fortunate to have a dedicated and supportive community who recognise that at the heart of each and every school's success, is a valued and trusted home/school partnership.  The Aspire Parent Code of Conduct supports your child(ren) during their time in an Aspire academy/school and sits on every website under the PARENTS heading.

School Council Update

Our School Council have been busy this term and have been discussing how they can improve playtimes. They have had some great ideas and they are going to be working with Mrs Malham to try and introduce some new ideas for lunchtimes... Watch this space!

After school clubs

We have had a wide range of after school clubs during this academic year. Our children have had the opportunity to take part in activities such as yoga, makaton, gymnastics, football, hockey, story club and craft club to name a few! With all the clubs on offer a total of 429 spaces have been filled so far this academic year! This has given so many children the opportunity to try a new skill and develop an existing one. Thank you to our teachers and support staff for organising these clubs for our children to enjoy!

School Trips

Some of our classes have enjoyed a school trip this year to support their class topic. We've visited farms, zoos and art galleries and even enjoyed a few local spring walks! Lots more trips coming up in the summer term! We can't wait!

Friends of Penryn Primary

A massive thank you to our Friends of Pernyn Primary Academy for their ongoing support with fundraising events at our school. So far this academic year we have enjoyed hot chocolate and mince pies, discos, cake sales, elfridges, carers day shops, raffles... the list goes on! The organisation that happens behind the scenes is massive and we thank all of our Friends for their continued support.

The funds received from these events support the whole school for things such as trips, resources and of course some delicious treats for all of our children at Christmas and Easter!

National Science Week

We really enjoyed Science Week this term!  The theme for this year was ‘Connections’, we have been exploring different connections in our everyday lives.  From matching animals and their babies in reception, how we are connected to plants and trees in year 1 and connections between human and koala fingerprints in year 2!

Year 4 investigated the digestive system and simulated how our food is digested through our bodies.

Year 5 discussed that not all scientists wear a lab coat and drew a picture of different scientists identifying what skills they might need. They also built bridges and experimented to see what folds they could make so that a single piece of paper could hold more blocks, looking at the connections between weights, forces and measures.
