SEWA-CORONA AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work Education and Action) organized a Corona Awareness Campaign in school to spread awareness amongst the student community about the increasing cases of Covid -19 in Lagos and encouraged them to follow all the safety measures to save themselves and others from this virus. Members of the SEWA committee helped non-teaching staff to sanitize anyone entering the school campus along with their belongings. Further, a quiz was organized during the school assembly to check their knowledge about this virus.

Dear Parents, The exhilaration of this eventful year persevered unabated. It gives us immense pride to share that the prudent vision of the esteemed trustees and and our dear Principal, Mrs. Sonali Gupta; a long- cherished dream of all the stake holders, finally took shape this month with the laying of the foundation stone of our new school building.

Educators are often presented with the arduous challenge of managing behavioral problems in the classroom. Problem-focused interventions are considered to be one of the most effective group counseling strategies with adolescents. With this as focus, the Psychology students of Grades XI and XII under the guidance of our Student Counselor Dr. Abdul Malik conducted group counselling for the students of Grades VIII to XII. Scenarios were depicted through role plays which helped students identify what triggered their anger and frustration and ways to manage anger and aggressive behaviors so that they can become successful and disciplined.

T-Shirt Painting Competition- To explore the creative potential of the young minds, T-Shirt painting competition was held for the students of Grades VIII-IX. The participants showcased their creativity with amazing artwork. Paper bag and Envelopes making Competition- The students of Grades VI-VII participated in this eco-friendly competition. It was devised to bring awareness and instill responsibility towards restoring and protecting the environment while showcasing their creative skills.&nbsp;The participants made paper bags and envelopes and decorated them using different materials.&nbsp;

The essence of yoga is 'balance' not only that of the body and mind but also of balance within.&nbsp;Yoga emphasizes the value of mindfulness, endurance, discipline and perseverance. The theme of the 8th International Day of Yoga was “Yoga for Humanity” which was celebrated in our school with zeal and fervor. Students participated in various activities across all grades.&nbsp;&nbsp; Yoga Day Celebrations- Mass Surya Namaskar Grade XII: Students of Grade XII performed mass Surya Namaskar, to commemorate this day. Poster Making/ Slogan Writing: Students of Grades IX &amp; X participated by creating posters and writing slogans. Yoga Logo Making: Children of Grades VI, VII &amp; VIII artistically designed their own Logos to celebrate this day. Essay Writing: The students of Grades IV &amp; V took part in writing essays stressing on the importance of Yoga.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Honoring the father of the library movement, the late Shri P.N. Panicker, CBSE schools celebrate June as the month of Reading. We, at I. L.S, celebrated the occasion by hoisting two events showcasing the importance of Reading. Student members of the D.E.A.R Committee conducted a story telling session in the Junior School while in the Senior School an interactive quiz session was held for the students of Grades XI and XII on names of authors, characters, books made into movies and so on. These events, is a clarion of ‘Read and Grow,’ a message given by our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

This year’s conference was held in a virtual format and was hosted jointly by the Harvard International Relations Council and Worldview Education. Harvard Model United Nations, Dubai 2022 aimed to create a perfect blend of comprehensive learning with engaging discussions about global issues in committees with relevant social agendas, exciting Leadership Forum sessions and many more. 24 Students from I.L.S participated in the conference from Grades XII, XI and X. This was the first exposure to HMUN conference for the students of Gr X. Participation in such events help create awareness through constructive forum for open dialogue on a range of complex issues, develop Public Speaking, Critical thinking and Collaboration amongst the student community.

Clay Modeling Activity - Grades I, II &amp; III: The little hands expressed their creativity by modelling their favorite 2D/3D yoga poses with clay. Lecture by Motivational Speaker: To create awareness amongst students about the significance of Yoga for healthy living, a stress relieving session was conducted by eminent Yoga Teacher, Mrs. Kalpana Mathur. Cooking Competition- The budding chefs of Grades X-XII participated in the cooking competition in pairs.&nbsp;There was an array of innovative and exquisite dishes of snacks, desserts, main course amongst others&nbsp;which were savored&nbsp;. The aim of this competition was to gain valuable life skills by working as a team and develop culinary skills that would be of importance throughout their lives.

There was a general euphoria, as on this auspicious day, Wednesday 14th June 2022, with the blessings of the Almighty, the Bhoomi Poojan and foundation stone was laid of our new school building at No. 8, Oremeji Street, Ilupeju. The occasion was graced by various dignitaries Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma Head of Chancery &amp; Consular High Commission of India, Lagos ; Founder Trustee and Chairman of the Committee of The Board of Trustees of Indian Language School, Mr. M.L.Lalchandani and other esteemed members of the Board of trustees, distinguished members of the Indian community, Principal , Vice Principals, Teaching and Non - Teaching Staff and the students of Indian Language School. The imposing new building will house smart classrooms and state-of-the-art technology. There will be laboratories to connect real life experiences and experiments to enhance the teaching and learning experience. This marks a significant milestone as it puts the vision of the esteemed trustees and our dear Principal, Mrs. Sonali Gupta into action and ushers in new hopes and new aspirations for our students.&nbsp;
