In continuum to the 40th Anniversary Celebrations, a 'Cake and Savory Sale' was organized within the campus.&nbsp;Students and teachers contributed by baking cakes and cookies. All caution was exercised to provide safe and healthy food for the students at subsidized rates. The irresistible aroma of frosted cupcakes, cakes, freshly made sandwiches and juice had students seeking more and they savored the eatables. The funds raised from the sale would be used for students' welfare and extra-curricular activities.

The past principals Dr. Renu Maira, Dr. Suman Kanwar and Mrs. Elizabeth Mathew were happy to share their memories with us. With pride and nostalgia, they spoke about their journey highlighting their contributions and milestones that were achieved during their tenure with I.L.S and were elated to see their aspirations and dreams become a reality. The team of Grade XII students, led the event by asking questions to the past principals, that traced the school's progress over these landmark years.&nbsp;Mrs. Gupta also invited our esteemed guest, Mr. A. Sivaram, Mr. Srivatsan and Mr. Rahul Savara enlighten us on their journey which saw I.L.S standing proud on its laurels. The session ended with a vote of thanks which was delivered by Mrs. Gupta and a promise was made to keep the flag of I.L.S always 'Flying High'.

It was a memorable and awe-inspiring occasion when the very talented and successful OSAILS came to I.L.S to start the 40th Foundation Week celebrations.&nbsp;&nbsp;They nostalgically reminisced the fond memories of their alma mater and its role in shaping them into what they are today. They shared their own stories of setbacks, learnings thereof and how with grit and resilience they achieved success. Their advice to the juniors was to never give up on their dreams and have belief in themselves. They strongly advocated following the mantra 'Persistence—not perfection—is essential for success in life.&nbsp;

On the 14th of April 2022, acting High Commissioner of India to Nigeria Shri. V. S. D. L. Surendra, Our founder Trustee and Chairman - Committee of the Board Of Trustees of Indian Language School Mr. M L Lalchandani, founder Trustee Mr. J T Lalwani our past trustee Mr. D.S. Mitani and our very respected past Principals Dr. Renu Maira, Dr. Suman Kanwar and Mrs. Elizabeth Mathew, present Trustees and other distinguished guests were invited on a zoom platform to recall and celebrate the school's achievements over the years. Our current Principal, Mrs. Sonali Gupta wanted the founder trustees and past principals to talk about their journey so as to make a connection between the past and the present. She read the message sent by the then High Commissioner of India to Nigeria Mr. K. Srinivasan who along with his wife Mrs. Brinda Srinivasan had played a pivotal and significant role in conceptualising and implementing the founding of the school. They shared their success stories that touched the hearts and lives of thousands of Indians in Lagos, Nigeria. The school's glorious achievements and milestones were highlighted by them.

Celebration for the 40th year spread its fervor among the teachers also. The very talented and versatile teachers took to the stage with a kaleidoscope of items- song, dance, and poems were performed to depict their pride and enthusiasm to be associated with I.L.S. It is through education that their unstinting support for the Indian community is expressed. &nbsp;Color, rhythm, and rhyme marked the wonderful morning when teachers performed for the students.

Elections of the school council are conducted annually to instill civic responsibility, leadership and a stronger sense of membership within the student body. Post-covid scenario saw the excitement and fervor of the School Council elections. Live speeches were delivered by students contesting for the post of House Prefects, Vice-Captain, Captain, Vice Head boy, Vice Head girl, Head Boy, and Head Girl. The students were advised to hear their nominees well and read their blogs, to make a judicious choice. After the speeches, the corridors and staircases of the school building reverberated with slogans and canvassing was done enthusiastically. The last and final step of the election was the voting which was conducted online on the 16th of April through Ballot forms. The results of the new student council were declared on 19th April 2022.

Good hygiene is important for teenage health and confidence. During this time of physical and physiological growth, hygiene is a critical component of health because it helps to combat sickness and infection. Not only does hygiene support immunity from disease, but it also helps the teen adjust to early adulthood by the adoption of social norms. Boys and Girls of Grades XII &amp; X to VI were counselled in different groups by their teachers and peers on matters relating to personal hygiene, toilet cleanliness and issues arising due to general cleanliness.

I.L.S participated in an international inter-school event organized by Bal Bharati Public School, NTPC, Khargone students. This global competition had representatives from thirty schools. This competition aimed to explore, experiment and experience. Students had to engage themselves in the research work on their own in their allotted country and project the art, culture, language, dance, etc. of that country.&nbsp;I.L.S was allotted Mexico. Our school participated in 20 categories and won first prizes in 7 categories and second prizes in 3 categories. Overall, Indian Language School secured the first position in AAGAAZ 2022.&nbsp;

An orientation was organized for Gr X and XII students appearing for Term II Board Examination (2021-22). The extensive guidelines issued by CBSE for the conduct of board examination were conveyed to the students. The orientation was held in two batches for Gr X and XII respectively, at separate timings. The Board exams commenced from the 27th for Grade X and the 28th for Grade XII of this month respectively.

The students of Grades VIII to XII conducted a talk show 'Pot of Gold' to portray their Vision for Indian Language School. It brought forth their thoughts, ideas, and their vision for the school. The talk show was an interactive event between junior and senior students which reflected the perspectives of the seniors on various topics and clarified concepts. Students spoke about their expectations and shared their ideas for new initiatives that they would like to be introduced in the school.

The first PTM was conducted in the last week of this month to facilitate the smooth transition to offline schooling for the students across all grades. Queries raised by parents were addressed. The format and portion for the forthcoming unit test were also shared. PTM helped teachers inform the parents about what they are doing for the benefit of students. They were also informed about the school rules and guidelines to be followed.

In her speech, the Principal, Mrs. Gupta, thanked the Trustees and Past Principals for their unstinting support, at all times. The Parent Teacher Association felicitated Mrs. Gupta in acknowledging her tremendous efforts for the school. Mr. Rachit Rawat and Mrs. Surbhi Rawat were presented with a send-off memento.&nbsp;Carrying on with the festivities, a cake was cut. Mr. Rawat congratulated I.L.S for its work and wished us the very best. A vote of thanks was delivered. The celebration ended on a positive note for a bright future and a splendid spread of dinner for the distinguished guests.

I.L.S created history this April when it opened its doors for its very own Radio Jockey.&nbsp;'VOICE IT' is an innovative way to seek expression for all, in the I.L.S family.&nbsp;This platform would showcase the innate talents of students and allow them to communicate and collaborate. The avidity of the students was tantalizing. They volunteered in large numbers and were all set to 'Come, Explore and Conquer'. Megha Gopikuttan and Kushagra Pandey are the First I.L.S Radio Jockeys. Our Honorable Principal Mrs. Sonali Gupta inaugurated this event digitally in the presence of Grade XII students. The efforts of our very first jockeys were much appreciated.

Dear Parents, Come April and we herald in the new academic session 2022-2023. This historic year, we celebrate the 'Magnificent Milestone' of 40 years of yeoman service to the Indian Community, here in Lagos. It is time to pause and reflect on our humble beginnings, cherish our laurels, and strive forward with our indefatigable spirit to educate, enlighten, and empower our students in this ever-evolving world.&nbsp; To commemorate the 40th Founder's Day on 14th April 2022, we at Indian Language School, dedicated the entire week to celebrate the milestone year, each day to a different event.

On the 23rd of April 2022, I.L.S celebrated its 40th successful year at a glittering and proud function at the Indian High Commission. The welcome speech was followed by thanking the almighty with a prayer song sung by teachers and performed by students. The non-teaching staff too presented their cultural skills with an invigorating dance. The Head of Chancery and Second Secretary, Mr. Rachit Rawat, founder trustees Mr. M L Lalchandani and Mr. J T Lalwani were honored. All our past principals, Dr. Renu Maira, Dr. Suman Kanwar and Mrs. Elizabeth Mathew were presented with mementos in absentia. The founder trustee Mr. Lalchandani announced the proposed new building for the school.
