A cultural show was presented by the students to denote their love, reverence, acknowledgment and gratitude they have for their teachers.

Investiture Ceremony of the Interact Club 2022-23

“The quality of your life will be determined by the quality of our contribution. When you work to improve the lives of others, your life improves automatically.”&nbsp; With the motto of Service above self, the investiture Ceremony of Interact Club was held on&nbsp;the glorious day of the 19th of August 2022. The occasion was graced by the distinguished members of the Rotary Club - Palm grove Estate, esteemed members leaders, teachers of I.L.S and students. The audience and the interactive club members learnt about returning back to society and being responsible global citizens. The Rotarians motivated the students to be true leaders and to perform their duties with diligence and sincerity keeping their important roles and responsibilities towards the school and community in mind. They conveyed their best wishes to the new team.

The festival of Raksha Bandhan signifying the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister,  was celebrated in the primary wing of I.L.S, with full enthusiasm, zeal and gaiety. They used creativity and skill to create the rakhis. The activity focuses on student engagement and learning as well as the need to imbibe the culture and respect the traditions of India.&nbsp; The vibrant attires and innocent smiles brightened the ambience and lifted the spirit. 

Indian Professionals Forum " Navigating the Terrain: Challenges and Opportunities"

Indian Professionals Forum had welcomed New High Commissioner of India to Nigeria H.E. G.Balasubramanian and Consulate General Mr Chandermouli Kern at an event “Navigating the Terrain: Challenges and Opportunities” .On this occasion students of Indian Language School Mayank Motwani, Sougandhika Peri, Devansh Singh Thakur and Dhvani Rathi were given an opportunity to interact with the dignitaries through the question answer session and were given certificates of Appreciation for their outstanding work.

“There is no such thing as a good magazine with a bad cover” A well- designed cover holds the magic to create curiosity about its contents and compels the reader to read the magazine. The students of I.L.S participated in the ‘Magazine Cover Competition’ held annually and put in their best efforts and creative and artistic aptitude to create drawings conforming to given themes.

Dear Parents ‘Classroom thinking’ is what we promote at I.L.S and it is our endeavor to encourage our students to have the conviction and courage to be global citizens with astute insight, competency and impeccable values. Our focus of education is to hold forth a progressive vision of creating a synergy of perusing the quest for excellence and to kindle the young minds with a dream of their own for a better world. We are extremely happy that His Excellency Shri G. Balasubramanian visited our school this August. We had a vibrant and eventful month filled with many competitions and classroom activities where the students got the opportunity to learn, improve their skills and have fun.

THE INDIAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL COMES UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE HIGH COMMISSION OF INDIA IN NIGERIA.

Freedom in the mind, Faith in the words... Pride in our soul... Let’s salute the Nation on this auspicious day. Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. To celebrate ‘Azaadi ki Amrit Mahotsav’ on account of the 75 years of India’s independence, the students and the staff members came dressed in tricolours. Our &nbsp;Principal Mrs. Sonali Gupta, along with Mrs.Ramneet Kaur (Vice Chairperson) and other members of PTA unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom. This was followed by a cultural function. The function concluded with the distribution of sweets by team PTA.

Core beliefs are underlying rules which guide how we react to events and circumstances in our lives. A small number of core beliefs underlie most unhelpful emotions and behaviours. A counselling session was conducted for the students of Grades XI &amp; XII to recognize and examine any self-defeating behaviours in themselves and others. The students were also given practical examples to bring about changes in their behaviour.

His Excellency Shri. G. Balasubramanian accompanied by the members of the Indian High Commission, Lagos paid a visit to the Indian Language School. They were warmly received by Mr. Lalchandani, Chairman Committee of the Board of Trustees, other distinguished members of the Board of Trustees of the school, Principal Mrs. Sonali Gupta, staff and students. His Excellency inaugurated the digital school magazine. He praised the staff and students for imbibing the Indian culture and keeping it alive, in a land far away from India. The work of the school in bringing out the potential of the students was applauded by him. He advised students to pursue their aim and keep their passions alive, in a world full of opportunities.

Counselling session for students of GR VI-VIII

Peer pressure has been called a hallmark of the adolescent experience. It is at this age when peer group’s values and attitudes tend to influence the adolescence mind more strongly than family values.&nbsp;It is often used as a tool of shame and fear to conform to a certain standard of behaviour, subsequently impacting mental health. In order to counteract this, a counselling session for the students of the middle school was held on the topic ‘How to Say No to Peer Pressure and Stay Strong.’ The students were exposed to the negative effect of peer pressure and guided on how they could resist it and stay strong.

Parent teacher Meetings are essential building blocks for communication between the school and the parents. It was time again for listening, sharing and working together for our learners. It helped parents to have a clear understanding of their wards progress and the impact the learning processes have on life beyond class-rooms. Apart from sharing the school rules and guidelines to be followed, the format and syllabus for the forthcoming Half -Yearly examinations were also shared. All queries raised by parents were addressed.

Parent Teacher Association is a bridge between the school management and the parents for effective communication in matters concerning the welfare and progress of our learners. A Career Counselling talk was conducted for the students of Grades XI &amp; XII by ex-students of I.L.S -Jainam Shah and Gaurav Shah who are placed in the University of Concordia and University of Waterloo respectively. As college application season rolls around, it is important for students to begin thinking about their applications and resumes. Gaurav Shah and Jainam Shah conducted a career counselling session to help simplify this complicated and usually baffling process. They also shared anecdotes from their journey, informing students on the dos and don'ts, including their own experiences.

“Charity begins at home but does not have to end there.” In keeping with Thomas Fuller’s wise words, the Interact Club arranged its first charitable event with the help of the Charity Committee in the school for its extended family, the non-teaching staff. The event received an outstanding response and students donated several item. The essence of such an activity is to invoke a sense of responsibility in the student's mind towards the less fortunate and to care for the hands that hold ours every day.&nbsp;

The outgoing members of the Executive Committee of the P.T.A distributed gifts to the non-teaching staff and hosted a fulfilled afternoon followed by lunch as a mark of gratitude for their dedicated service to the students of the Indian community.

The School Safety Committee conducted a Fire drill and demonstration session to emphasize the usage of different types of fire extinguishers. This is to help the students to handle any unforeseen emergency situation like the outbreak of a fire. The floor map along with emergency exit routes was shown to students. The practice of Fire Drill helps students to react rationally when confronted with the fire.

The students of Indian Language School were part of the great celebration of India’s 76th Independence Day on the grounds of the Consulate General of India, Lagos Nigeria.&nbsp; On this glorious occasion, the students of I.L.S presented a powerful presentation about India’s journey and achievements in the form of ‘Nukkad Natak.’ They took pride in presenting India’s contribution to the world. Our younger students dressed up as some eminent personalities of India. The school choir sang the national anthem and patriotic songs. They were trained by our very able music teachers Mrs. Mondal, Mr. Daniel and Mr. Tim. Drishti Singh and Priyanka Dash students of I.L.S were awarded Gold and Bronze medals respectively in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Quiz competition 2022.

The culture festival ‘Vibrant Africa: The Rising Rhythm’ a global event series organized by the Art of Living Foundation, was held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos. At this festival traditional folk musicians, singers, African performers of international repute came together to present their art forms. It was indeed a momentous occasion when students of I.L.S performed the dance ‘Malhari Thillana’ which is an amalgamation of three Indian Classical dance forms namely Bharathanatyam, Kathak and Mohiniattam. Their energetic and well synchronized performance was beautifully choreographed by Mrs. Saumya Umashankar. The performance of our students was warmly applauded.
