About: Brit Bennett:
Born and raised in Southern California, Brit Bennett graduated from Stanford University and later earned her MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan where she won a Hopwood Award for short fiction as well as the 2014 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers. She is a National Book Award 5 Under 55 honoree, and her debut novel, The Mothers, was a New York Times bestseller. Her essays have been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, the Paris Review and Jezebel.

About: Tony Medina
Tony Medina is the author of 20 books for adults and young people including the graphic novel I am Alfonso Jones (2017) and Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Black Boy (2018). He is an award winning poet and is a professor of Creative Writing at Howard University. Featured in the documentary, Sheer Good Fortune: Celebrating Toni Morrison, Medina was awarded both the Langston Hughes Society Award and the First American Voices Literary Award.
