An Exciting Trip
Last year, I went on a study tour to Japan with my Kei Wa schoolmates for two weeks. We went to many restaurants. It was a wonderful trip. Japan is a great place. We tried all the famous food in Japan.
Different Culture
I felt excited before I got there because I could see Mount Fuji. Dad gave me a reminder before my trip. He reminded me to respect Japanese culture.
The Use of Utensils
In Japan, people use wooden chopsticks to pick food. This is similiar to Hong Kong. We use chopsticks and spoons to pick food in Hong Kong. I felt so depressed because it was difficult for me to scoop the soup using chopsticks. But I tried my best when I had the soup.
Sitting Down
I felt so excited because Japanese need to wait until the oldest male says "let's eat" or everybody says "itadakimasu". This is different from Hong Kong. Children do not need to wait for the grown-ups.
Iconic Dishes
For my first afternoon tea, we had sushi and sashimi. I was very hundry. I wanted to try them all. They were fresh and delicious. This is different from Hong Kong food. We had Zhu Cheung Fun and Dim Sum in Hong Kong.
Things people should or shouldn't do
I felt so surprised because my parents always told me not to make any sounds when we are eating. However, this is different from Japan, slurping soup or noodles shows that you are enjoying the meal.
Final Thoughts
I felt happy because Japanses food is so yummy. I learnt so many kinds of Japanese dining customs. It is necessary to follow and to respect the differences of others' cultures.
