Mrs. Stuckey and her husband welcomed a baby boy on November 7, 2019 named Roland Ray Stuckey! Mrs. Stuckey said, "Roland was born at 33 weeks (which is super early) and he was premie! He is doing great now. He loves to suck on his fingers, play airplane and eat!"

Mrs. Montenero and her husband welcomed a baby girl on November 15, 2019 named Judith Francis Montenero! Mrs. Montenero said, "We are all doing pretty well despite needing to stay at home. My husband and I are working from home and getting to spend some extra time with our son, Rico (3), and our daughter, Judy (4 months). Baby Judy is very sweet. She giggles all the time and sleeps fairly well. She is healthy and happy!"

Mrs. Crabb and her husband welcomed a baby girl on December 20, 2019 named Olivia Lynn Crabb! Mrs. Crabb said, "Everyone is doing well!"

Mrs. Baas and her husband welcomed a baby boy on January 27, 2020 named Owen Dean Baas! Mrs. Baas said, "Owen is growing bigger each day and loves to cuddle. He is starting to make noises, wiggle around and smile."

With the MLB canceling and going to hopefully be back in two weeks. We hope that no players nor their families get this sickness. We hope baseball and the other sports will be able to play!

Does Earth have a new “mini-moon”? Technically, no, it’s not going to be here long - but this mini-moon is likely to come back, as Eric Christensen says, “It’s likely coming to pay us another visit in another 25 or 50 years.” The sightings of these mini-moons are going to become more common as technology improves and astronomers can spot more important “moons” and asteroids. On February 15th, 2020, astronomers Kacper Wierzchos and Theodore Pruyne at the Catalina Sky Survey spotted an asteroid that had entered Earth’s gravitational pull, but sadly, they say it’s going to be gone soon. Apparently, this mini-moon/asteroid called 2020 CD3, entered Earth’s orbit around three years ago and should leave orbit in April. 2020 CD3 is the second known asteroid to enter our orbit that is big enough to detect, the first one called 2006 RH120 - also discovered by Catalina Sky Survey.&nbsp;

1-What is your favorite thing to go outside of school?: Outside of school I love to hang out with friends and my dog, Auggie! I also like trying new restaurants around the Milwaukee area. 2-What is your favorite restaurant?: This is such a tough one! I don't think I could pick just one, and I will try anything twice! 3-What is your favorite class from when you were in school?:&nbsp; Believe it or not, my favorite class was actually math! 4-What is your favorite disney character?: My favorite Disney character is definitely Olaf from Frozen--or Rapunzel! 5-Do you have any pets?:&nbsp; Yes--I have a 2 year old mini aussiedoodle pup named Auggie. He is the best! 6-What was the worst thing you did in Middle School? Oh gosh... I'm sure I did too many things in middle school that I wouldn't be proud of! One thing that comes to mind, though, is when I broke the dress code to look cool, and ended up having to serve my first (and only!) lunch detention. It was mortifying!

Every year the school puts on a school trip through World Strides. They switch between going to Florida and Washington D.C , It is open to 7th and 8th grade students and their parents. This year the trip is Washington D.C. the kids will go on a three day trip, on a tour to see important monuments and museums.&nbsp;Although it could be cancelled due to Covid-19, we are choosing to stay optimistic.

-The white house has 32 bathrooms -There are underground tunnels beneath the Capitol building -There’s a bathtub in the basement of the U.S. Capitol! Four marble tubs were installed in 1859 when most senators lived in boarding houses on Capitol Hill that had no running water so they washed at work. One of these baths can still be seen today. -The Washington Monument used to be the tallest structure in the world, but was passed by the Eiffel Tower five years after construction was finished.

Mrs. Kancheski is the teacher that runs and organizes the D.C. trip. We interviewed her to see her opinion of the trip.

What is your favorite activity during the trip?

It is such an amazing learning experience for students to learn about our nation's capital.&nbsp;Students are able to pay respect for those that fought for our country and thank veterans that might be visiting the memorials.&nbsp;As a group,&nbsp;having a tour guide, we are able to hear and see so much more than a family traveling alone.

There are so many that I enjoy!!&nbsp;It is hard to narrow down one thing.&nbsp;I love going to George Washington's home in Mt. Vernon and seeing how he lived and where he is buried.&nbsp;I also like the experience the students have at Arlington National Cemetery where they see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.&nbsp;I also like the Ranger who speaks at Ford's theater where we learn about Abraham Lincoln's assassination.

Mrs. Mohr A smile has a curved line that can straighten out many things. This was my High School quote. I love it because the simplicity of a smile can really make a difference to others. Taking the time to smile really can fix an awkward situation.

Mr. Hui "Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter."&nbsp;-Francis Chan. This is one of my favorite quotes because it relates to a big part of my life - my faith. For me, there are a lot of things that don't matter and very few things that do matter. This quote helps remind me that my life has a greater purpose; there are more important things than making a ton of money, winning every soccer game that I coach, or having the new iPhone, a fancy car, or expensive shoes or clothes. Putting my faith into action by loving and serving others and leaving a legacy that will last beyond my life is what matters the most to me, and what I want to succeed at.&nbsp;

One person we asked was Mr.Hogan. He said that Kentucky is going all the way. He has traditions such as watch the games with his friends on Saturdays and Sundays. He has been doing this for 25 years.

Another person we asked is Mr. Bily. He thinks that Illinois is going all the way. He says that because they have improved in the post. His traditions are filling out brackets with his wife.

One more person we asked is Mr. Hui. He thinks that Kansas is going all the way. He is not going to any games unless tickets are cheap. His traditions are watching with his family.

We asked a student named Yusuf. He thinks Kentucky is going all the way. Kaiden says he thinks Duke is going all the way. So does Julian. Lastly, Cooper thinks Baylor will go all the way.

We asked a few questions to former students that went on the D.C Trip in the past.

What was your favorite part of the trip? I loved the freedom you get from your parents and I loved learning about all the different parts of history. Our tour guide was really nice and was very knowledgeable about all of the places we were able to see. I enjoyed the Arlington National Cemetery and Ford's Theater because of the history that is embedded in both places. - Maggie S.

I loved the Franklin Delano Roosevelt memorial because we went there at night and it was really beautiful. There were waterfalls and lights and the memorial really told a story. There were four different parts of the memorial for each term of his presidency and I thought it was an amazing way to show history. - Irene Y.

What is something you wished you had known before the trip? I wish I had known that you have to sleep. The amount of stuff that they pack into that trip is insane and you need to sleep. Being with friends is great and hanging out with them is fun, but you have to sleep or else the whole trip will be miserable. Also, don't spend all your money on food, they feed you pretty well. Take advantage of the food that has already been paid for the actual trip. - Maggie S.

School safety is an important part of our school culture.  Forest Park Middle School students were asked their opinion about the safety of our school.

 An interview from Kaylie states that she thinks our school 1-10 is an 8 for safety and the things that make our school safe are all the cameras outside the building and inside the building. To make our school safer she states we shouldn’t have as much glass and if she had to change schools for safety reasons she would go to a school in Madison for safety reasons.

 An interview from Anna stated she thinks our school 1-10 is 7 for safety and what makes our school safe is all the cameras and the teachers. To make our school safer she states we shouldn’t have all the glass and she would change schools for safety reasons.

 An interview from Hailey states that she thinks our school 1-10 is a 7 for safety and the things that make our school safe are all the people. Joe is a 6th-Grade student at Forest Park Middle School. His favorite solo artist is Post Malone. “I like Posty because of his vibe and his type of music,” Joe says about Post Malone. Joe said his favorite song by him was “Candy Paint”. Although this isn’t a new song it’s his favorite. The song was on two different albums; “The Fate of the Furious: The Album” and “Beerbongs and Bentleys”. The song was released in 2017 along with his whole “Beerbongs and Bentleys” album.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Riya is an 8th-grade student in the Bily/Singer house. Riya likes the solo artist Khalid. “I love Khalid because he is extremely chill and I love the type of music he makes” this is what Riya said about Khalid. She couldn’t pick a favorite song by him so she said her favorite 4. Those songs were “Youth”, “American Teen”, “Location” and “Saved”. Riya really likes Khalid’s album “American Teen” that was released in 2017.

Mrs. Lemberger is a 7th-grade science and math teacher. Mrs. Lemberger likes the ‘80s group Journey. She enjoys all types of ’80s music but this group really stood out to her. Her favorite song by the group is “Open Arms.” The song “Open Arms” was released in 1981 about 4 years after the ‘80s group became a band.

Milne, <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/1225592">Winnie-the-Pooh</a> The Winnie the Pooh books are "children's" books that I find in reading them as an adult to be full of wisdom.&nbsp; At Southwood Glen I would read this book near the last day of school to most of the students that I've taught, with the goal to not tear up as I thought about the year we shared in 6th grade and the hard work that made us better versions of ourselves by the end of the year.

Teachers here at FPMS really enjoy quotes, so we decided to ask them for their favorite quotes to share, and why it was their favorite, or a story about it.

Mr. Bily My Mom used to tell me when it came to relationships and love: "When you know, you know."&nbsp;I used to think that was such an oversimplified take from a woman who had been through a lot of challenges in her life. It became incredibly true when I met my now wife in our very last education class in college before graduation.&nbsp;With an urgency I understood what she was trying to tell me. When you meet someone who you are willing to put the needs of before your own, someone who makes you be a better version of yourself not because they force you to but because you are motivated to be so, someone who doesn't make you feel guilty for being yourself. You will know in an instant that they are truly a special person to be around. My Mother's advice took on a new meaning then... I knew!

Mrs. Singer&nbsp; "The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing." -Henry Ford Everyday we continue to learn and push our thinking. If we didn't make mistakes, some of the greatest inventions would not have been made. Additionally, it strives us to have the growth mindset to continue to instill our core values at FPMS of personal growth and innovation.

To make our school safer she states we should have more discipline and she wouldn’t change schools for safety reasons because she has all her friends and family here also the teachers here care about our learning.

An interview from Josie stated she thinks our school 1-10 is 8 for safety and what makes our school safe is since it’s new and all of the new tech. To make our school safer she states we should have more background checks and she wouldn’t change schools for safety reasons.

An interview from Riya stated she thinks our school 1-10 is 6 for safety and what makes our school safe is the staff and the teachers. To make our school safer she states the teachers should teach us more about safety and she would change schools to somewhere in Nebraska for safety reasons.

Mrs. Warnke and her husband are expecting a baby girl! The baby is due on June 16, 2020 and they are working on tying history from both sides of their families into the name. 

Mr. Misiak and his wife are expecting a baby boy! The baby is due on May 12, 2020 and they don't have a name they are 100% certain they are going to go with. Mr. Misiak adds, "We already have a son, Callen and he is very excited to have a little brother."

1. My favorite thing to do outside of school on weekdays includes seeing movies at Bistroplex! I love the idea of watching a big screen movie and eating some tasty food! 2. I have many favorite restaurants...recently I have been obsessed with Toppers! I LOVE garlicstix&nbsp;with chipotle ranch and Loaded Tot-zza pizza! 3. My favorite subject is social studies. Specifically studying presidents and first wives. I was extremely interested in learning about their beliefs, intentions at the time, and what occurred&nbsp;in their social life. Now it has evolved into politics--my favorite US city is Washington DC! 4. My favorite Disney Character is Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. She isn't the best role model for girl-power, but she is just gorgeous and pink is my favorite color! Fun fact--she speaks the least amount of lines than any other Disney princess! 5. I have a spoiled Miniature Schnauzer named Gretel. She is my pride and joy of my life! My parents have her sister, Liesel as well as two Goldendoodles Honey and Willow. Lastly, I have a Betta fish--he doesn't have a name yet.

Mr. Stephans and his wife welcomed a baby boy on July 13, 2019 named Dominic Joseph Stephans! Mr. Stephans said, "Dominic is growing up so fast! He is starting to crawl around and pull himself up. My wife Mallory and I are loving being parents!"

Mrs. Giuliani and her husband welcomed a baby girl on December 23, 2019 named Josephine Lauren Giuliani! Mrs. Giuliani said, "The Giuliani family loves JoJo, and she goes with the flow. Her older siblings love to smother her with affection and toys. JoJo loves to smile and is starting to coo."

Welcome to Wildcat News! This paper will be released once a month as an update to parents, students, and our community on a variety of things, such as clubs, after-school activities, sports, and more! The following is a student-conducted project led by Mrs. Stiglitz, who guided all journalism students through the process of captioning images, what goes into journalism and school newspapers, and how to keep a professional style of writing. Mr. Hogan&nbsp; "The best make everyone around them better. They do this through their own pursuit of excellence and in the excellence they inspire in others. One person in pursuit of excellence raises the standards of everyone around them. - Jon Gordon. This quote comes from the book Training Camp, written by my favorite author, Jon Gordon. This is something I strive to do on a daily basis as a teacher and coach. It's important to me that I make a positive impact on someone's life and inspire them in some way.

Mrs. Hogan "A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected." I love this quote because I think telling others you appreciate them or even saying a simple thank you goes a long way.

Mr. Zomboracz “Are you working hard, or hardly working?” Because kids are always doing one or the other. And, if their working hard, they will enjoy school more, get more from school, and be better global citizen.&nbsp;

Mrs. McCarthy My favorite quote was one from a student who wrote it on my board. It was, "The biggest room in the world, is the room for improvement". Not only is the quote true--because we are not perfect beings--but also because it is encouraging. After the student wrote the quote on my board, many teachers and students walked in and noticed it. They also said that they really liked the quote, too. That quote not only helps people understand that we can all be better by improving ourselves, but also that we can all share the same joy from such a universal quote!&nbsp;

Mrs. Laffin&nbsp; "Waste not, want not", This quote has guided my daily life for as many years as I can remember. It not only applies to tangible goods like food and other products but I also apply it to relationships. Everyone has something to offer and we should never discount or throw away a potential relationship because we don't immediately see their value. Everyone and everything has value and as a society we are too quick to get rid of things and people in our life.

At least 19 people were killed in Tennessee early Tuesday, including two in Nashville, when powerful tornadoes ripped through the state, officials said. “It is heartbreaking,” Gov. Bill Lee of Tennessee said at a morning news conference. “We have had a loss of life all across the state.” The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said 19 people had been killed across the state, The Associated Press reported. The Metro Nashville Police Department tweeted that the two victims in the city were from East Nashville, and deaths were also reported in Putnam, Wilson, Davidson and Benton Counties. The Nashville Fire Department said on Twitter that it was responding to reports of at least 40 collapsed structures around the city. Photos and videos shared on social media showed walls blasted off buildings, sheet metal wrapped around a pole, and trees and electrical lines broken across roads. “It’s not looking good right now. We still have several people missing, a lot of loved ones calling in wanting us to locate their family,” Sheriff Eddie Farris of Putnam County told a local news station, WKRN. “We certainly hope that number doesn’t go up, but it’s not looking real promising at this point.”

Ms.Phillips "Don't get so busy making a living that you forgot to make a life" - Dolly Parton This is my favorite quote because it is coming from a lady who is worth $500 Million. She is the queen of country music, owns her own amusement park, has her own record company, and so much more. She is reminding people that money isn't everything--you are not meant to ONLY work and die. You need to travel, spend time with family and friends, and do the things you love!

Mrs. Stiglitz My favorite quote: "We're all in this together" from High School Musical.&nbsp;First, who doesn't love High School Musical?!? But during these uncertain and stressful times we are all experiencing, it's important to lean on one another for help and support.&nbsp;We all got this and will get through this together!

This is a student-published piece of work. There may be slight editorial mistakes throughout the paper, and all students will work to correct these in our next edition as we strive to improve our skills and quality during the school year.

I repeat, all spring training games and upcoming games have been officially canceled for at least two weeks until further notice due to the coronavirus. I am certainly crushed by this action! As we dive into noticing what teams could possibly win their opening day games based on their spring training games. 

The first official game of the 2020 season was going to kick off at one ten for the Washington Nationals at New York Mets and the Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians. Those games due to stats would most likely end up with the Nationals winning with their seventeen wins and twelve other games that they lost against the Mets with their record with thirteen games won and other sixteen games that they lost. 

With the other game, the Indians would mostly have the chance of wining against Detroit. The Indians have seventeen wins and lost the other fourteen that they played. Detroit won fifteen and lost fifteen. With these stats it's hard to see which teams would of won.

Easter is a really big holiday that is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Christian religion. Did you know that Americans spend about $1.9 billion on Easter candy. 70% of Easter candy purchased is chocolate. 76% of Americans think the ears of a chocolate bunny should be the first to be eaten. Back in the 1800 and 1900 instead of dying eggs they dyed natural items such as onion peels, tree bark, flower petals, and juices. “The White House Easter Egg Roll” event has been celebrated by the President of the United States and their families since 1878. Easter first started in the middle of the 2nd century. We celebrate Easter because of Jesus Christ’s resurrection
