Welcome to the Aspire Academy Trust.

Aspire is a vibrant, highly successful and widely recognised Trust determined to raise standards of educational achievement to the very highest levels. We don’t just aim for our children to achieve what is average or expected, but for them to excel both academically and in character.

We live in a global economy that requires our children to be prepared to think both critically and creatively, solve complex problems, and to communicate well. Mastery of the basics: reading, writing, maths and technology is our core purpose, and this sits firmly alongside ensuring our children have well-developed social and emotional skills. Aspire academies have a strong emphasis on the sport, arts and social, moral spiritual and cultural education.

Our 36 schools/academies and 11 nurseries are all an integral part of their local communities and have a real sense of identity. We value the contribution each of our communities makes and the distinctive opportunities and diversity it offers to the Trust. Getting learning off to a flying start.

Aspire nurseries, led by qualified and knowledgeable staff, lay firm foundations for children in their early years. A qualified teacher from each school oversees the curriculum, learning environments and learning outcomes in conjunction with the Nursery Lead. Staff strive to ensure all children have an equal chance of success, informed by knowledge of what can be achieved.

Our nurseries, the children, families, our dedicated teams and the local community, are an integral part of the Aspire Academy Trust. We recognise the need for high quality early education where children flourish through the love and care given by all of our practitioners.

We know the importance for our nurseries to have strong and respectful partnerships with parents so every child can develop during their early years and that everyone plays an active role in ensuring this is successful.

Our number one goal is to ensure all children, within our family of Nurseries, grow stronger and achieve through high-quality early education and the care that we are able to offer.

Our vision for Sandy Hill Academy is for it to be a centre of excellence for teaching and learning for all. We will aim to create an environment that is safe and that enhances and develops children’s desire to learn and to equip them for their future.

Sandy Hill will be a place where children’s individual needs and abilities will be recognised and nurtured, their successes acknowledged and celebrated.
We strive to be a place where children are happy, confident and secure in the knowledge that they are valued and listened to, where they can be excited and challenged in an environment that promotes learning at all levels.

Children love exploring our outdoor environment. We enrich our curriculum to ensure it fosters children that are curious and questioning.

We have a wonderful outside space that children can explore. The children have a wide access to resources and activities that support all aspects of the EYFS Framework that promote 'Awe and Wonder'.

Early Years Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.

This document sets out the standards that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Seeks to provide:

- Quality and consistency in all early years settings, so that
every child makes good progress and no child gets left behind.
- A secure foundation through learning and development
opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each
individual child, and are assessed and reviewed regularly.
- A partnership working between practitioners and with parents and
carers.
- Equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice,
ensuring that every child is included and supported.

Timetable/Structure

OUR NURSERY DAY TIMETABLE
At Sandy Hill Nursery we are proud to offer effective school-based provision. School-based provision includes a more structured approach to teaching Phonics, Maths and Topic related learning. Both our morning and afternoon sessions are planned effectively to ensure all children have access to the same learning experiences.

At the start of the nursery day, your child will be welcomed with a friendly smile and a warm greeting from the nursery team. From the offset, your child will be encouraged and supported by the adults in the setting. We firmly believe that developing positive relationships are paramount in order for your child to thrive within the nursery setting.

Once inside the nursery, your child will be supported to develop their independence with self-care needs. Your child will have their own peg to keep their personal belongings together and safe. Developing independence and resilience are vital foundations for children in order to be successful life-long learners.

The nursery day consists of some direct teaching staggered throughout the day. Such as, Phonics, Maths and Topic related learning. These provide short, focused direct teaching activities that then link into their self-initiated play.

During continuous provision, your child will be able to explore the wide range of activities and available tools and resources that have been taught and modelled with the children. The activities are planned effectively to cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum through a range of topics.
