ROME                                                  

Rome is in the central part of Italy.
It is the capital of Italy.

In Rome there are 2 800 000 people.

It is a very ancient town.                                                                                                           

In Rome there are many important monuments:
Colosseo, fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Navona square,
the Vatican museum, piazza di Spagna.                                                                                                                                          
In January they celebrate festival of Befana, expecially in Navona square. The Befana is an old lady who brings sweets and presents like Santa Claus does.

Their typical food is Carbonara.
HOW TO COOK PASTA ALLA CARBONARA:
INGREDIENTS
- spaghetti: 320 g
- streaky bacon: 150 g
- yolks: 6
- grated Pecorino cheese
- chili pepper
- black pepper

PREPARATION
Put on the flame a pot with water and salt inside. Chop the streaky bacon.
Put the chops in a pan and brown them for 15 minutes. In the meantime put the spaghetti in the boiling water and cook them for the time that is written on the box of spaghetti. Put the yolks in a bowl, add Pecorino cheese and black pepper, mix with a whisk. Add a little of the boiling water of the pasta and continue to mix. Drain the pasta and put it in the pot with the streaky bacon. Add the mixture with yolks, pecorino and pepper and mix. Add also a little of boiling water of the pasta. Add pecorino and black pepper again.
TERNI

Terni is in the central part of Italy, in Umbria. In Terni there are 110 000 people. It is a modern town because during the world war it was bombarded many times. In Terni there are some ancient buildings: a roman amphitheater, the Cathedral, S. Francesco church, the Basilica of S. Valentine, who was a bishop of Terni in the II-III century. Terni is called “the city of lovers”, in February they celebrate St. Valentine . Their typical food is “ciriole alla ternana".
HOW TO COOK "CIRIOLE ALLA TERNANA":

Ingredients

For pasta:
flour 500 g
water

For souce:
tomato sauce 600 gr
cloves of garlic 2
parsley
spicy red chili pepper 1
olive oil 4 spoons
salt

Preparation:

Put the flour on the pastry board, make a hole in the center, put some water in the hole and knead. Take small pieces of dough and make many little “snakes”.  Put garlic cloves, parsley, chili pepper , parleys in a frying  pan and brown them. Add crushed tomato, cook and then put salt. Boil ciriole in a lot of water with salt, then take off them and put into the sauce and mix.
MARMORE FALLS

Near Terni there is the Marmore Waterfalls, it is a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans.
It is 165 metres high and it has three sections (three jumps). It is the highest in Europe. The Velino river falls down into the Nera river.
There you can have a walk on five routes and observe the three jumps from different viewpoints. You can do also many activities like Rafting and Canoeing.
