Yellow fronted parrot

It is robust, measuring 35 to 38 cm; short-tailed, with a red square patch on the secondaries. In adults, the head is completely yellow, and It is also red on the shoulders.

It is distributed in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Venezuela, Colombia and Honduras.

The parrots are zygodactyls ,it is an arrangement of the fingers in birds with two fingers in front and two behind.

The parrots are monogamous ,mates with a single female of their species.

The cientific name of the yellow headed parrot: "Amazona oratrix" , it comes of the etimomologic "oratrix", that is "oratory".

It is the northern most of a series of yellow-crowned parrots of the genus Amazonai.
