Message from the Principal Welcome to the Summer 2021 edition of Sketch! I would especially like to welcome any students or staff who have joined us since the last edition of Sketch. What an academic year this has been for everyone – students, staff, parents/guardians, families… – we have had to continue to adapt to a totally new way of life in school due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Open from September to December, online learning from January to March / April, it was a year like no other. Once again it is extremely important to recognise and thank everyone in the school community for all of the hard work, flexibility and commitment that has been so evident in ensuring that teaching and learning continued, whether in the building or at home. To all of our staff and students- THANK YOU!!&nbsp;

A special word of mention goes to our Leaving Certificate students who will leave CCS in the coming weeks. Leaving Certs have had the toughest of times over the past 2 years and I want to take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of them the very best in their future lives. Finally, a special word of thanks, as always, to the editors, feature writers, reporters and staff members involved with The Sketch – as usual you have managed to capture many wonderful things about the school! Wishing EVERYONE a peaceful summer break!! &nbsp;Remember to stay safe and follow the guidelines in relation to Covid-19.

WandaVision WandaVision is a new highly anticipated show that came to Disney+ just this January.&nbsp; It immediately became popular among Marvel fans, and even non Marvel fans. It shows a new point of view of the lives of Marvel superheroes Wanda and Vision, who live normal suburban lives until they realize not all is as it seems.

Soul Soul is a movie about a jazz pianist and music teacher called Joe, who has a sudden near-death experience, and he gets stuck in the afterlife. While he seeks to reunite his soul with his body he reflects and contemplates his life choices and the life that he took for granted. I would rate this movie 5 stars. It is different from any Disney movie I’ve watched.

Avengers: Infinity War Avengers; Infinity War is an American superhero movie based on the Marvel comics. It was released on the 23rd of April 2018. It had&nbsp;a budget of 316 million dollars. Its cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. It earned a total of 2.04 billion dollars. It won 8 awards including one for Favourite movie. It received a score of 85% on rotten tomatoes.&nbsp;

Slovakia is, in my opinion, a beautiful country but only in the countryside and not in its capital. My reason for saying this is because there isn't much to see in the capital of Bratislava. I have been there and the only interesting things I remember in the capital would be the ufo and Bratislava castle. Going outside the capital you have the Tatra mountains on the border of Poland. If you visit during winter and it snows on the mountains it just looks amazing. Also the country is filled with castles. Their food is really good like bryndzové halušky, bryndzové pirohy, kapustnica, vepřo knedlo zelo, gulášová polievka and more. Slovakia is definitely a place to visit for hiking, skiing and more

Hungary is like the bowl of Europe. Hungary is filled with lots of foods and castles. Their most known dish is the one the only goulash or Gulyás. Their other foods are Lángos, Somlói Galuska, Halászlé, Paprikás Csirke, Kürtőskalács, Túrós Csusza and Töltött Kaposzta. Definitely a reason to visit. Also an interesting fact, the Mongols tried to invade Hungary. Hungary has also a lot of stuff in their capital so it's a great place to see.

Rosies beach A.K.A the secret beach in Killarney national park is by far my favourite beach on this list. It is located next to Muckross lake which means the water is fresh. Since it is found inside Killarney national park there are many other sites and attractions near by. Food and drinks can be found at the Muckross café and garden restaurant which provide great food and a gift shop for people looking for souvenirs.

11. Do you have a favourite subject you kept on for 5th year? P.E. 12. What will you do this summer if the 5km restriction is lifted? Is there anywhere you plan to go? Shopping , club training and beaches. 13. Do you watch a good Netflix series or have you come across a good one? If so what ? I don't really watch Netflix but my favourite series is Money Heist. 14. Have you watched any good movies recently? If so what ? I've watched a good few movies , my favourite genres war type movies.

Mr.O'Donovan 1.How was your lockdown? Long! But it gave me an opportunity to try new things. 2.Did you enjoy online school? It was strange, as I had new students I hadn't met in person, but it gave me an opportunity to get to know them. 3.What was your favourite memory of lockdown? My sister gave birth during the second lockdown, which was an amazing addition to the family. I also moved back to Ireland at the end of lockdown one.

5.What kept you motivated through lockdown? I spent a lot of time making social media content and falling in love with teaching science again. 6.Did you make any new hobbies? Yes, I've started making content for teaching science online (before lockdown I hardly even used Instagram, let alone anything else!) 4.What lockdown did you prefer? Lockdown one was pretty good, but lockdown two was probably better.

What is your opinion of Carrigaline as a community? Evan: Very good Do you think there are enough things to do in Carrigaline if so what's your favourite? Evan: Yes, soccer is my favourite thing to do Have you been to the Carrigaline skatepark, if so what did you think of it? Evan: Yes I love it. I go there all the time Are there any additions you would like to see added to Carrigaline? Evan: No, I think it's perfect What do you like to do during your spare time? Evan: In my spare time I like to play soccer

Avatar Avatar, one of the most popular films of all time is a must watch for anybody who hasn’t seen it. The science fiction film follows a man who has travelled to another planet called Pandora, and with the use of technology he becomes one of the mysterious people that lives on Pandora.&nbsp; I would rate this movie 5 stars.

1. Are you finding online school easy or difficult ? I found online school difficult.&nbsp; 2. Have you taken up any hobbies in lockdown? I started painting. 3. What’s a typical day for you in lockdown? In lockdown I normally stayed inside and watched netflix. 4. Do you like summer or winter more ? Why?&nbsp; Winter because I love rain. 5. When concerts are on who would be the first person you would go to see if you could? If I could go to see someone in concert I would go to see Harry Styles.

6. Are you looking forward to fifth year or do you think it will be difficult seeing as we haven’t had proper school since mid 3rd year? I am excited for fifth year.&nbsp; 7. What do you do if you get bored and can’t go out with friends? When I get bored I watch Criminal Minds. 8. Where would you go in summer if you could go anywhere? If I could go anywhere in Summer I would go to Italy. 9. Have you changed anything about yourself while in lockdown? I cut my hair and dyed it 4 times.

Avatar Avatar is a sci-fi adventure movie, released on December 18th 2009. It had a budget of 237 million dollars. Its cast includes Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington. It earned a total of 2.8 billion dollars. It also won over 30 awards including an Academy award for best cinematography and Empire award for best film. It received a score of 82% by Rotten Tomatoes.

The Attack Titan&nbsp;is a Japanese&nbsp;manga&nbsp;series written and illustrated by&nbsp;Hajime isayama.

It is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by three enormous walls that protect them from the gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans

1. How has the pandemic affected your learning? - It hasn't I'm still bad at studying. 2. Are you happy to be back in school? - Sort of. 3. Did you enjoy online learning? - Yes I did and I preferred the online schooling. 4. What subjects are you doing for Leaving Cert? - MCT, Maths, English, HC, VPG, Social Ed. and Art. 5. Do you have any idea of what you would like to do after finishing school? - Sleep, photography, travelling. 6. What are your favourite subjects? - P.E, Irish cause I don't do it, religion cause it's a doss class.

7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? - In a mirror. 8. What is your dream holiday? - Go to see the Northern Lights and the Polar Bears. 9. Do you have any hidden talents? - I'm a very manipulative liar. 10. What do you most like about 5th year? - My class mates because we're getting closer, like a little family.

Eventually, Eren and those in the military alongside him discover they are not the only humans left alive. Why? - I'm sitting all my exams except ordinary level Irish as I'm not counting it 8. You are old so, when you die what do you want to be remembered for? -Everything, I'm pretty hard to forget 9. New&nbsp;town Carrigaline: Carrigaline nowadays has just gotten bigger and more modern. The population of Carrigaline is now 15,770 and it is one of the biggest commuter towns in Cork. The Barry Collins food market shown in the previous picture is now called Supervalu and includes multiple other shops inside. They now have a new Lions Club that was made in 2015 and has been great help to the community ever since. They also have a new skatepark that was brought in 2017 and has been crowded everyday since. People were thrilled - they loved having something new and fun to do in their own town.

The story follows&nbsp;Eren Yeager, who vows to exterminate the Titans after a Titan brings about the destruction of his hometown and the death of his mother.&nbsp;

Attack on Titan&nbsp;was serialized in&nbsp;Kodansha's monthly&nbsp;Bessatsu shōnen Magazine&nbsp;from September 2009 to April 2021 and has been collected into 33&nbsp;tankōbon volumes as of January&nbsp;2021.

Tankōbon meaning : Tankōbon is the Japanese term for a book that is not part of a series or corpus. In modern Japan, the term is most often used in reference to independent volumes of a single manga series: most series

1. Who's your favourite teacher? - Ms A O'Regan 2. What are you looking forward to this summer? - being able to go out in the sun and have more spare time 3. What do you hate the most about about school? - the pressure put on students

6. What were you up to during lockdown? - I was drawing and recycling while I wasn't doing any homework 7. What's your favourite food? - chocolate brownies 8.Who's your celebrity crush? - Brie Larson

Croatia is one of the best places to visit during the summer vacation. The ocean is so clean making the water very clear and oh the food is so good. For example they got crni rižot, Boškarin, Brodetto, Buzara and Fritule. The architecture is very similar to Italy for obvious reasons and it really fits the atmosphere there. Back to the ocean, Croatia is definitely one of the best countries to visit if you seek to sail the Adriatic sea. When I visited Croatia it was just beautiful how the ocean looked, buildings and the people were very nice.

Poland has a lot of reasons to visit like its capital of Warsaw. After the second world war the reconstruction of Warsaw happened between the 1950s to 1970s and some landmarks were finished as late as 1980s. Though not the original they are still sites you must see. Some food to try would be Żurek, Flaki, Bigos, Pierogi, Czernina, Tatar, Kotlet schabowy and Kluski śląskie. I have been to one part of Poland and the countryside looked amazing. Also the food was very good so I say definitely visit Poland.

Located a few kilometres outside of Roundstone village Co.Galway is Dogs Bay beach. Described by the locals and tourists as a “calm and beautiful beach with crystal clear waters”, it is a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday. With camping sites nearby and hotels such as the Roundstone house hotel in the village there is no problem with accommodation. Parking seems to be the only issue because there is only one car park by the beach but since Roundstone village has such a small population it shouldn't take too long for parking spaces to become available. There are also 3 restaurants in Roundstone that provide a “great dining experience” with views of the harbour.

The Netherlands is a place that takes the beauty of flowers and times it by a hundred. The farms that grow these tulips must have a great view of the beauty they grow. Also they're reclaiming land from the sea which is really cool and should be seen. They're food include Poffertjes, Pannenkoeken, Hollandse nieuwe&nbsp;haring, Oliebollen, Sate and Erwtensoep. All amazing stuff.

Liechtenstein is definitely a place you haven't heard of. It's a country located between Switzerland and Austria in the Alps. You would visit Liechtenstein for either hiking or skiing. Some of they're food include Asparagus, Hafalaab, Kasknopfl, Muesli and Ribel. A small country but a really interesting one.

Inch Beach lies on Daingean Bay on the Dingle Peninsula. Visitors to Dingle will find this place well worth a stop as it is a perfect place to come at any time of the year. This beach is ideal for surfers and people who want to learn how to surf because it has two surfing schools right next to the beach. Lessons cost about 25 euro and surfboards are 5 euro per hour to rent. Other gear like wetsuits are also provided. Accommodation is not a problem as there are camping sites, hotels and b&amp;bs close by.

The Truman Show The Truman Show is a sci-fi comedy movie about a salesman whose entire life is a TV show, and everyone he knows, even his family are actors. When he starts noticing strange things and uncovers the truth, he tries to escape. I would rate this movie 5 stars.

Mulan(2020) The new live-action Mulan that came out last year was highly anticipated by Disney fans, although there was a lot of controversy and opinions swirling around the release. It premiered online due to COVID-19, via the Disney+ streaming service.&nbsp; Overall I rate this movie 3 stars.

Its cast includes Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill. It earned a total of 2.06 billion dollars.&nbsp;It also won over 11 awards including one for MTV Movie Award for best villain. It received a score of 93% on rotten tomatoes.

Is there anywhere you plan to go? When the 5m restriction is lifted I want to go to Inchydoney beach. 12. Do you watch a good Netflix series or have you come across a good one? If so what ? I watch Julie and the Phantoms and Scorpion.&nbsp; 13. Have you watched any good movies recently? If so what ? I watched a good movie called The Best Of Me.

Top 5 Beaches to visit in Ireland this summer

We are ALL ready for summer to finally arrive, so shouldn’t you have your summer playlist for 2021 prepped and ready? Here are some of my personal picks that you absolutely MUST listen to this summer

An anime television series adapting the manga was produced by&nbsp;Wit Studio<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wit_Studio"> </a>(seasons 1–3) and&nbsp;Mappa&nbsp;(season 4). A 25-episode first season was broadcast from April to September 2013, followed by a 12-episode second season broadcast from April to June 2017.

Attack on Titan&nbsp;has become a critical and commercial success. As of December&nbsp;2019, the manga has over 100&nbsp;million&nbsp;tankōbon&nbsp;copies in print worldwide, making it one of the&nbsp;best-selling manga series of all time It has won several awards

Homemade Vanilla ice cream (no ice cream machine needed)

Ingredients - ½ a 397g can sweetened condensed milk - 600ml pot of cream - 1tsp vanilla extract

Directions 1. Put the condensed milk, cream and vanilla into a large bowl. 2. Beat with an electric whisk until thick and quite stiff, a bit like clotted cream. 3. Scrape into a freezer container or a large loaf tin, cover with cling film and freeze until solid.

Old Town vs New Town Carrigaline Old town: Carrigaline derives its name from Charraig Uí Leighin, a nearby outcrop of rock where a Norman settler Philip de Pentergrast built his castle. There is still a house in Carrigaline bearing this name. Thirty years ago this was a rural village with a population of about 300.

Carrigaline was and still is one of the key getaways to West Cork. The heron on the main roundabout was a millennium statue donated to the town by the Lions Club. Agriculture was the main industry in ancient times until corn and flax growing encouraged the development of the flax mills and flour mills in the 19th century.

So I'm here to give names of some countries to visit in Europe after Covid 19. The countries I put down are not in order and are just a small selection of places I recommend visiting

So we all know France, Germany, England, Spain, Portugal and Italy. I'm calling these guys out because these are the most common countries people go to visit. Not saying it's a bad thing but I'm going to recommend some other places to visit after Covid 19.

Sweden, Norway and Finland are definitely some of the interesting countries of northern Europe but I've chosen to talk about Sweden. You can see its history from the buildings and traditions they celebrate like Påsk, Midsommar and Kräftskiva. Their food includes Lingonberries, Pickled herring, Crispbread, Räksmörgås and Pea soup and pancakes. You also can't forget their saunas. One of their popular and relaxing places to visit.

Ms.McCarthy 1.How was your lockdown? Long, but it was nice to have some time to myself and catch up on things. 2.Did you enjoy online school? It was strange to get used to it but I didn't mind it. 3.What was your favourite memory of lockdown? Getting to spend some time with my family and dogs.

4.What lockdown did you prefer? The second one. The online teaching kept me going. 5.What kept you motivated? Exercise! Getting out for a walk or run and also doing some artwork of animals. 6.Did you make any new hobbies? Yes, I made garden furniture for my garden out of pallets and set up an instagram page for my artwork.

Narin beach in Donegal is one of Irelands best beaches on the Atlantic coast. The beach is a blue flag beach so you are assured clean water to swim in. During the summer months the beach has lifeguards on duty to ensure people have a safe but fun experience. The beach is said to have a panoramic view of the islands off the coast. At low tide it is possible to walk from the beach out to the island of Inishkeel. The island attracts many tourists because of the 6th century monastery on it. The nearest town to Narin beach is Portnoo. The locals have been described in other reviews as "friendly" and "great craic".

Curracloe beach is located in Co.Wexford just south of Enniscorthy. It is one of the longest beaches in Ireland stretching 11 kilometre. Not only is it a lovely beach but it also has a forest right next to it which is a part of a conservation project. There is a 5 kilometre trail walk within the forest which leads out onto the beach. The beach has no rubbish because of the conservation project which makes the scenery look nicer. Visitors have said that it gets busy but since the beach is so big it seems like there is no one there. Seals are also a popular attraction for wildlife photographers but it is advised not to get too close! Food and drinks are available at a café setup close to the boardwalk.

1. Did you find online school easy or difficult ? Easy because I didn't go to much classes. 2. Have you taken up any hobbies in lockdown? More training. 3. What’s a typical day for you in lockdown? Go training, do stuff around the house , watch T.V and go outside. 4. Do you like summer or winter more ? Why?&nbsp; Summer because no school, warm weather and see friends. 5. When concerts are on who would be the first person you would go to see if you could? Polo G.

6. Are you looking forward to fifth year or do you think it will be difficult seeing as we haven’t had proper school since mid 3rd year? No because there will be lots of work and be harder. 7. What do you do if you get bored and can’t go out with friends? Watch soccer, go on my phone. 8. Where would you go in summer if you could go anywhere? Spain or Maldives. 9. Have you changed anything about yourself while in lockdown? Training a lot more and helping around the house.

Austria in my option has the richest looking capital in Europe. All the buildings look like you have gone back in time. Sure, you have your modern shops but the way the walls of the buildings are made it just gives it a really nice look. The countryside is nice and parts of some areas are filled with wind turbines. Their food is also great like Marillenknödel, Wiener Schnitzel, Linzer Torte, Sacher Torte and Vorarlberg Mountain Cheese. Since Austria is a German nation it shares some similar stuff with Germany.
