12-year-old Sydney and 8-year-old Turk Travel a long way to visit their aunt Lily and uncle Frank on the farm. When they get there they soon realize that everything is gone. Where is their aunt and uncle? Where is the farm? Read the book to find out!
The setting takes place in The Royal Woods, in the present day. It takes place in the present day because they have a mall, newly renovated houses, phones, cars, etc. I also think that it takes place in Manitoba, Canada because they have loonies and toonies and also because the author is from Manitoba, Canada.
The main character is Sydney, she is 12 years old. People often call her names like red, little red riding hood, etc. just because she has red hair. Sydney is very determined to do things, once she sets her mind to something, she will do everything in her power to do it. She is also a very sweet and kind person, and she cares a lot about her brother.
Some other characters are Turk (Sydney's little brother), Shep ( a homeless guy they met in the Royal Woods), and Kumar ( a nice guy they also met in the Royal Woods). There are more characters but these are the main ones.
Sydney and Turk went through a long journey in the Royal Woods just to visit their aunt Lily and uncle Frank, they went from running away from their dad to finding out that the farm was gone and their aunt and uncle were gone too! They were devastated to find out that their aunt and uncle weren't in the Royal woods waiting for them when they got there. They were really questioning if they should go back home, if they'll have a place to stay, and if they'll have enough money to buy food until they met Shep and Kumar. Shep and Kumar helped them a lot and sort of fixed their worries. Sydney and Turk went to look for Shep and Kumar, but they were nowhere to be seen. Will they ever get to see their aunt and uncle? Will they find Shep and Kumar? Will they ever go back home? Read the book to find out!
