In the main hall of the Caetani Palace there are banners representing the life of the Gonzaga family. In the hall of Onorato Caetani there was a small door that was used in case of attack and led to the keep of the castle.

In Giulia Gonzaga's room there are frescos representing her life. Superstitous symbols are presented throughout the Palace. There were always two guards near the front door of the Palace.

3- Day Summer Itinerary

We are a group of students of the 1st and 2nd year of the middle school of I.C. Milani (Fondi, Italy). This work is a Pon, a project financed by the European Union. The aim of this project is to learn English, studying the territory of our town. Fondi is near the Tyrrhenian Sea, it offers a lot of touristic opportunities to those who want to visit our city.

We decided to create this leaflet because we want to introduce a 3 day summer itinerary which can point out the beauties of Fondi and its territory. Day by Day, we will give advice about places to visit, activities, food and events. This itinerary is thought for every season. Infact for those who can't travel during the summer, can decide to visit Fondi in winter.

Day 3 On day 3 we suggest Sperlonga, a beautiful town near Fondi on the Tyrrhenian Sea, with lovely beaches and its Museum.

The museum opened in 1963, Tiberius was a Roman Emperor and he was adopted by Augustus, he had a villa in Sperlonga by the sea. This fantastic place was also enriched with a Cavern where there were a lot of feasts and banquets.

On the same day you can visit the Jewish Museum. It opened in 2015. The Jews lived in Fondi from 1200 to 1510 when they were expelled from all of Southern Italy.

The Jews had two choices: 1) Leave all their homes and go away 2) Convert to Christianity.

On the first Day,we suggest the visit of "Palazzo Caetani" and "Museo Ebraico"

On Day 2 we suggest the Castle. During the 14th century, the Caetani family built the castle next to their Palace in the centre of Fondi.

In the castle there is a museum. The most important place of the castle is the first room. In this room there is a sarcophagus representing the Good Shepherd, this ancient masterpiece dates back to the first century.

Other important objects are the coats of arms , they represent the symbols of the families who lived in the castle.

This is what the cavern looked like in the Emperor's time. There were groups of statues celebrating scenes of the Illiad and Odysseus. The 2 Epic Poems written by Homer.
