For those not confident with drawing have them search for their image as clip art, then draw over it and make it how they want it to be- making an new image of their own and then delete the clip art one.

When renaming the book on the book shelf, have the student type their name first, then the title of the book. This saves you from having multiple copies of the same titled book and no way to know whose book is whose, without opening the file.

Always use the Camera App on your device

When taking images for a book we tell students to always use the camera app. This allows them to have a copy of their photo that they can edit them before inserting them. This also allows them to retrieve the photo if they accidentally delete it in the book and can't use the undo button.

If you are publishing as a video and have pages with only images on them you may find that they flip very quickly. If you want the video to stay on the page a bit longer, then hide a text box with lots of spaces in them or a silent audio clip behind. This will keep the video on that page longer. 

Reorganize the Export Options

In the export menu on an iPad you will get many options of apps that you can export to. Confusion comes when there are two options for the same app. For example "Copy to Drive" and "Drive". Unfortunately you cannot remove "Copy to Drive" which just dumps the file in drive without letting you choose a folder first.

But, you can reorganize the apps list. Move the apps so that "Drive" is first, or your chosen app, and things that say "Move to" are at the bottom. This makes it less confusing for the younger students.

Don't use the Cover Page

If you are going to combine a book but only need one page per student, don't have them create their page on the cover. Skip that page. Sometimes it does not delete or can't be moved.

Make sure all of the books are the same Book Shape

Books of the same shape can be combined with each other!

Purchase some cheap earbuds, designed for smartphones. When you get them snip off the earphone part. Be sure to keep the microphone. The microphones work great for recording, even in a room with medium volume background noise.

Delete Blank Pages before Airdropping or saving.

If you are going to have students combine books a good plan is to have them all delete all of the blank pages in their books before they airdrop/save them. This means less pages to delete in the merged book.

Delete each book or move it to a new Bookshelf when combining

After you have merged two or more books, move or delete the individual books off of the main bookshelf. This makes the combining books list shorter and easier.
