Using Book Creator in the classroom

Have your learners record the poem using the Record option from the menu.

Record different sounds using the Record option from the menu.

Introduce the new Sound Box that arrived in the classroom with your learners.

Distinguish shades of meaning among verbs differing in manner (e.g.,&#160;look, peek, glance, stare, glare, scowl) and adjectives differing in intensity (e.g., large, gigantic) by defining or choosing them or by acting out the meanings.

Have the learners add emojis to the images.

Combine drawing, sound and text to create Haiku poems.

Have your learners create a new book project.

Interview your family members to reveal the stories behind the picture.

During this activity the learners have to listen carefully to the words. Which ones rhyme? Every key fits with a lock. Find the rhyming words and unlock the padlocks.

Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).

Note: Chart of words that rhyme.

Family Portrait

Have your learners arrange the words to leave a message.

Take this activity further and use it as a reflection board either at the end or the start of a lesson.

Search your attic and basement and pull out the family albums. Who is who? What is the story behind the pictures? Have your learners interview their family members and take a step back in time.

Reconstruct a painting that is being described to you.

Have them sit back to back. One is looking at the painting and the other has Book Creator ready.

Narrate the lyrics of your favorite song.

Erase some of the words with the drawing tools.

The learner listening to the description draws the objects and places them in the correct location.

Have your learners compare the painting and the result.

You can also organise this activity individually. To do this you have to pre-record the instructions.

Have your learners rearrange the pages based upon the time indications using the pages overview.

Have them record their version of the story using the Record option in the menu.

Use backgrounds from games to create that endless feeling or capture some panoramic photos on your phone.

Activity 2: Come Together

Arrange the words to leave a message of wisdom.

Add a background image of a magnetic board.

Add a random set of words. Use a white background and black text if you want to resemble the magnetic poetry cards.

Activity 3: One Direction

Follow the step-by-step directions to create art.

Capture images while performing a process. For this example I created a stick puppet.

Insert the images in a random order into your project from the media menu.

Have your learners sing the song while recording themselves using the Record option in the menu.

Delete the drawings and compare the lyrics with the audio.

Turn this activity into a music quiz and see who knows the most songs.

Your learners grab a set of letters from a black bag. Once the letters are revealed your learners will try to create as many words as possible.

Activity 2: The Keys To The Beat

Create a new book with a key on one page and a lock on the other.

Record a word on each page using the Record option from the menu.

Have your learners listen to the words on the keys and the locks.

The steps to recreate a construction have fallen on the floor. Everything is mixed up. Invite your learners to rearrange the steps to create the guide.

Use information gained from illustrations (e.g., maps, photographs) and the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text (e.g., where, when, why, and how key events occur).

Colorful Words

Every week a new box full of sounds arrives in the classroom. The learners try to figure out what is inside the box and determine a common theme between the items.

A spy drops an envelope off in the classroom and challenges your learners to break the secret code. How good are their alphabet and reading skills to find the hidden message?

Unlock Rhyme

Describe people, places, things, and events with relevant details, expressing ideas and feelings clearly.

Note: Family pictures (physical or digital).

Describe familiar people, places, things, and events and, with prompting and support, provide additional detail.

Write down synonyms using the color charts.

Change the color of the rectangles in a gradient from light to dark. The change of color will indicate the intensity of the words.

Capture picture of your latest field trip and ask your learners to recreate the experience by narrating the story.

Draw letters and form as many words as possible.

Have your learners draw ten letters from a Scrabble game.
