“Ding dong!” the doorbell rang. “I got it!” Max shouted. He jumped up off of the old leather couch and sprinted towards the front door. His socks sliding on the hardwood floor. Max turned the silver lever that unlocked the door. The door squeaked as he slowly opened it, being very cautious about what might be waiting on the other side.
Nobody. A few seconds later, he noticed there was a giant package sitting on the front steps. Yet no deliverer. Max glanced to the right, then to the left. There was nobody in sight. Nothing but weeping willows, bright red brick houses, and joyful children chasing each other around the cul de sac one by one.
Max was very confused. It was too heavy for someone to easily set it down, ring the doorbell, and take off. It was very mysterious. Definitely not a usual thing that happens around the area. He thought maybe it was just another piece of furniture his mom had got for the new house we moved into three weeks ago.

At the time, she's always shopping to make the house look better. Max’s new house has the ¨old-fashioned look.¨ Cracked leather couches, squeaky wooden doors. That's the usual way his mother likes to design. The package looked as to be as tall as a closet and about as wide as a desk.
¨What, Why, Who?¨ All sorts of questions were pondering in Max’s little clueless brain. Begging to be answered as soon as possible. He slowly inspected the box, looking for a clue for what exactly was inside of it. As he turned toward the back side, there beheld a white label with black printed letters.
His curiosity dragged him closer and closer each second. Max then started to read the label very carefully. ¨ Max Peterson, ¨ it stated. He stood in shock as his mind went blank, for that was his name.
Max doesn't usually get mail, especially not this big. It was surprising, mysterious, and shocking, but most of all, exciting! He couldn't wait to open

it! Max bolted to the kitchen cabinet and grabbed the tallest step stool he could find. He closed the cabinet and rushed back to the front door.
Max quickly unfolded the stool and set it right in front of the box. Max balanced himself rather well as he stepped onto the stool with his glacial bare feet. Just tall enough to where he was higher than the box, Max peeked inside and discovered a whole world of packaging! Max launched chunks and chunks of styrofoam across the hallway. Ripping and tossing them out the door as the whistling wind blew it down the street.
It just never ended! The deeper and deeper it got, the more anxious Max was to unlocking this joyful mystery. His arms were starting to come in less contact with the packaging as the box went nearly empty. He decided to get into the package, "That would be a lot easier," Max thought personally. Max felt so brave that he dove straight in, head first!

styrofoam as his legs led up against the side of the box. He then pushed my arms against the bottom of the package as he dragged his feet down back to a normal position. Bending down on his stiff knees, Max gently pushed aside the rest of the packaging towards the very outer rims of the box. There it was... what Max has been trying to uncover all this time(4 minutes), is finally revealed! “It's, it's a -”
He paused for a second... "Swoosh!" Max’s finger quickly tapped the colorful toy and retrieved back to him. It was like poking a dead raccoon with a stick on the side of a road! He waited for something surprising to happen... nothing. He tilted his head sideways in confusion, staring.
"It's just a toy," Max reminded himself. This time, without fear, he reached out and grabbed the object. Max immediately started to find out what it did. He shook it, rolled it, spun it, pressed it all over, tried to open it, still nothing. Then, he started randomly moving it around... it turned.
Max gasped loudly.

One layer of the toy just moved from one face to another. Max was astonished! “What, just happened?” he asked himself as his head lit up with excitement. Although Max was excited, he was kind of disappointed for how long it took him to find out how it worked.
Max played with the cube some more until he realized how hard it was to solve! After two hours of walking around the entire house several times, trying to do the best he could, Max decided to take a break. As Max's brain ached more and more, he had known now that he had underestimated how complicated this mystery was.
He ran up to his small bedroom and set the cube on his desk. He sprinted back downstairs, leaving the cube to sit. Searching around the kitchen, he found a tall glass of water, sitting on the side table next to the fridge. Picking it up instantly, Max chugged every last drop of water. He had to calm down and refresh.

Max took a deep breath and made his way back up the squeaky stairs and into his room, where he would soon find himself back with the cube in his hands once again. Before he started attempting again, he placed the cube back onto the smooth wooden desk, right next to his new laptop. “ If I want to solve it, I first have to research what I’m trying to solve,” Max thought.
He opened his computer and put in his password: P3t3r$0n. Max had always known that his password wasn’t that good, but it was a password he could remember, which worked well for him. He opened a new tab and searched “cube color toy.” Max switched to images and saw the exact object that was sitting on his desk. He then converted back to the normal search bar. He saw two words that were printed everywhere!
After gathering tons of more information, Max started wondering, “Is it even possible to solve the Rubik’s cube?” So he searched for it. “Yes, the Rubik’s cube can be solved with methods using algorithms,” it responded.
