These examples of Book Creator Books made by middle school students demonstrate books made collaboratively about guided reading books & articles.

Book Creator examples used for a Writing Workshop

Registrar- Someone responsible for keeping official records.

Congregation- A group of people assembled for religious worship.

Brood- To think deeply about something that makes someone unhappy.

What everyone did: Emily: Stella, title page, image selecting, reviewing, and fonts Kassia: Stella's mom and dad, the KKK, and the other characters Ava: Title, images, Stella, backgrounds, reviewing, and fonts Kyra: Images, fonts, and Title page, Jojo, KKK, and she designed the Blooper page Eliza: Vocabulary and helped on different pages Almost everyone reviewed and everyone added bloopers.

Stella is an eleven year old girl who is black, but doesn't believe in racism. She will go to immense lengths to stand up for what is just. She faces many obstacles, but she doesn't give up.  

Jojo is Stella's hardworking little brother.

Stella and Jojo go to the same school.

Jojo was the first one to see the Klan, then he ran and got his sister.

Georgia is a brave woman, who was bitten by a snake and survived. She cares about Stella and Jojo a lot.

He is a person who is determined to get equal rights as white men. He also understands the struggles that Stella faced.

They are both really proud of Stella.

This Klan is known for causing destruction. In this story, they are the antagonists. The bad things they did included burning a house down, making people feel weak, and putting harm in other people's way.

Dr. Packard is part of the Ku Klux Klan. He is a huge antagonist in the story.

Tony Hawkins is one of Stella's friends. He is important in the story because he was determined to be just like the white kids. He is a runner, so he wanted to go on the white school's race track, which he did.

Hazel helped bring out the courage in Stella. During the fire Stella found Hazel in her hidey hole and that helped Stella bring out her courage.

Paulette is Dr. Packard's daughter. Stella also saved her from drowning. Then, Paulette admitted that her father was in the KKK and that he was always physically hurting her mother and herself.
