 Armadillos have amazing survival skills! They have shells that protect them from predators. An armadillo will curl up into a ball showing only their hard shell leaving the predator to go home hungry. Armadillos can protect themselves by going to the bottom of a lake and staying there for six minutes.  This helps protect them from land animals! Their brown green skin helps them blend into their habitat.

Rabbits are hunted by predators, but they have many ways to protect themselves. First,rabbits can rotate their ears 180 degrees to find exactly where a sound is coming from. To protect themselves they can go in a different direction when they hear a predator coming. Also, a rabbit has eyes on the side of its head meaning it can see nearly 360 degrees so it can see when a predator is coming and run away. Last, rabbit claws, teeth and hind legs help them to defend themselves and fight predators.

Foxes are in the dog family and not the cat family. Their leg bones are built to run long distances way longer than any cat can. They have 42 teeth when most cats have 30 teeth. Most dogs can live alone or in groups just like foxes can. 

Armadillos are outstanding underground! Armadillos make tunnels to sleep in. They also use the tunnels to find food. They use the tunnel systems many ways including finding their way around underground.

 A dolphin pod has many different kinds of groups inside it that break off into subgroups.Nursery pods consist of  mothers,calves and adult females that babysit calves during hunt.A subgroup is a small part of a big pod that breaks off to search for food. About 30 subgroups hunt in the same area,near enough to hear one another. Oceanic dolphin groups have up to 1,000 members.

Dolphins brains are larger than human brains. They use their brains to  untie the knots of fishermen’s nets.

Armadillos are very talented hunters! They have bad eyesight so they use their amazing sense of smell to find food eight inches underground. Armadillos eat beetles, termites, ants, and other insects. They have sharp pointy claws that they use to dig up food. They have long sticky tongues that they use to lap up food with.  Slurp!

Did you know rabbits appear in Stone Age cave paintings? Rabbits were seen in Portugal and Spain more than 3,000 years ago. Rabbits are mammals. Rabbits are nocturnal animals because they are awake at night and sleep during the day.  Rabbits are herbivores, which means they only eat plants.

Red foxes have great senses of smell and hearing to help them find prey.  For example, a fox can hear a mouse squeak from 100 feet away. Red foxes have 20 different calls and it helps them survive because if they didn’t have their call’s they could not talk to each other or warn each other when danger is near. Their fast running helps them get away from danger and they can run 30 miles per hour.

Ears are used to hear prey.  For example, foxes can hear a mouse squeak 100 feet away.

Muzzle this is used to eat their prey and catch things with there teeth.

The tail  is used to stay nice and warm and its used as a blanket.

Their fur is many different colors to blend in with their surroundings.

Legs are to help them run between 30 and 40 miles per hour.

Their claws are there to help them climb very tall trees, dig dens, and catch prey.

Wild rabbits create their home by tunnneling into the ground. Rabbits burrows can be as deep as 9.84 feet (3 meters). There are many entrances for quick escape.  Newborn cottontail rabbits stay in their burrow for about 3 weeks.  Rabbits make burrows in woods, forest, grasslands, meadows and even deserts.

Do you know elephants weigh as much as 80 people which is 14,00 pounds?  They can get up to 9 feet tall.  Which makes them the biggest animal on land.

Did you know a hungry arctic fox will follow a polar bear to his cave and when it leaves it will eat the polar bear’s scraps of fish? Foxes also eat berries,fruit,bugs,and small animals.Foxes are omnivores, which means they eat plants and animals.They are mammal's.Foxes live everywhere except Antarctica.They live in dens that have several exits to escape predators.Their predators are coyotes,wolves,mountain lions, and eagles. 

Dolphins use Echolocation to send out a sound so they can locate anything in front of them.

Dolphins have existed for over 12 million years. Primitive dolphins had trouble adapting to sea life because other dangerous animals had better senses of smell and hearing. Dolphins evolved from land animals to ocean animals.Their blowhole allows them to take in air and continue swimming. Evolution gave dolphins a very effective and precise sonarlike system (Echolocation).Their bodies became streamlined to swim fast and escape predators.The Ganges river dolphin usually swims on one side in order to trail the edge of its flipper along the sand.

Arctic foxes are foxes that live in the Arctic. Arctic foxes change their fur depending on the seasons. In the fall and winter their fur is white because it helps them blend in with the snow. In the spring and summer their fur is brown or gray to help them blend in with the ground.Wolves and polar bears are predators of Arctic foxes. Arctic foxes get away from their predators sometimes by blending in with their surroundings. People hunt arctic foxes for their thick fur. Baby arctic foxes are called kits.

Rabbits can turn their ear 180 degrees so that they can run if they hear predators.

Their sharp claws help them dig burrows to protect themselves.

They have 100 million scent cells and it helps them to find food. They use their sense of smell to see if plants are poisonous.

Their legs are so strong that some can go 50 miles per hour.

There are 34-36 species of dolphins. Some of them are white beaked dolphin,tucuxi,hourglass dolphin,Blake dolphin, Atlantic spotted dolphin,and the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin. Other sea mammals such as Orcas,Narwhals and Whales are also in the dolphin family.The Pink River Dolphin is not a dolphin! In fact Pink River Dolphins are toothed whales that belong to the family lniidae.

It uses more than 70 kinds of sounds in their lifetime. An elephant makes a trumpet sound when they are excited, surprised,or attacking. They also cry, scream, snort , and growl.

Dolphins are carnivores meaning they only eat meat.They eat seals,fish,squid and sea turtles.The types of fish dolphins eat depends on the species of dolphin.What dolphins eat depends on where they live and what creatures share their habitat. Dolphins use a hunting method called herding to catch their food.

CLICK click click! A dolphin uses echolocation ( a sonarlike system) to navigate through the deep dark water of the Atlantic Ocean. Dolphins can dive deeper than 900 feet and swim as fast as 25 miles an hour.

The difference between an african elephant and a asian elephant is that asian elephants have two domed heads and the african elephant has a round type of head. The trunk of an african elephant has two projections kind of like a finger while the asian elephant only has one. The easiest way to tell which is which is African elephants have ears shaped like africa.  Asian elephants have more rounded ears.

Elephants communicate with each other in a lot of ways.  One way an elephant communicates is by touching. They kiss by curling their trunks together.  Elephants play by wrestling with their trunks.

An Elephant can swat away flys with their tails when needed. Elephants can use their tails to communicate too by swishing or wagging their tails.

Elephants ears can hear things very far away like water rushing. 

They also help them with keeping them cool on hot days .

Elephants rely on their trunks to smell danger. When elephant calf’s are 4 months old it has to learn how to move its trunk.

Elephant’s don’t have sweat glands so they use their skin to stay cool.

Did you know that armadillo means “little armored one” in Spanish? Armadillos originated in South America and that’s where they got the name “little armored one”. Armadillos have hard shells that help protect them from predators that want to hurt them. Armadillos are mammals and their baby’s grow inside of them.

EYES- Armadillos have terrible vision so they use their other senses to help them survive.

SHELL.they have very hard shells that help protect them from predators.

NOSE.armadillos have a very good sense of smell that helps them find their underground food.

TONGUE.They have long sticky tongues that help them eat lots of food at once.

LEGS.They have strong legs to help them walk and swim.
