Anglo-Zulu War, also known as&#160;Zulu War, decisive six-month&#160;war&#160;in 1879 in Southern Africa, resulting in British victory over the&#160;Zulus. Initially Cetshwayo's policy had been to hold back his troops, remain on the defensive in this unprovoked&#160;war, and hope to negotiate a settlement.

Japan closed its trading doors and Matthew Perry sailed to Japan and demanded trade with Japan they made the Treaty of Kanagawa granted the United States two ports to get goods and trade.

Matthew Perry Is important because he allowed US to trade with Japan.

-France and Britain dominated southeast Asia mainland nations. -The real reason Siam was allowed to remain independent was that it provided a buffer between western British territories and eastern French. -Most of everything happens in French and British. -King Mongkut and his son Chulalongkorn began to modernize the country by making schools and also reforming the legal system.

Effects of Imperialism in Southeast Asia (Positives and Negatives)

-Growing economies based on cash crops and goods -Roads, harbors, rail systems- improved communication and transportation -Education,health, sanitation improved -Unification of areas

-France took over southeast Asia and by 1890's Europe had most of Southeast Asia. -In many places the native people worked as wage laborers on plantations owned by foreign investors. Plantation owners kept wages at a poverty level.

Effect-&#160;Many&#160;Africans&#160;strayed from their tribal beliefs and began adopting western beliefs, leading to internal conflict

What is the Imperialism of Africa?

The Imperialism of Africa is a stronger country dominating a weaker country. Up until the Mid 1800&#8217;s was called &#8220;The Dark Continent&#8221;, they called it this because the interior was largely unexplored and unknown by Europeans. Outposts and trading posts had been established by Europeans. They owned along the Eastern and Western Coast.

-Things began to change with the entrance of the Europeans. -Europeans started to influence the area with the entrance of the Spanish &#160;and Portugal in the 1500's -Spanish and Portugal in the 1500's The power of Portugal Started To Fade Away.

The affect it that Japan grew to be kind of a world power that the growing technology that America has and led to the bombing of pearl harbor railroads and such.
