Introduction Video
The age of exploration is a time period from the early 1400's through to the early 1600's. European nations and monarchs sought to find the trade riches from Asia. Emboldened by new ship and navigation technology they sponsored many expeditions from all over Europe that led to much of our planet being mapped. The nations mostly involved were the Spanish, Portuguese, British, French, and the Dutch. This book covers this time period through the voyages of famous explorers.

While Mr. Reid’s Grade 8 students were learning about this important time period, they did some detailed research on many of the explorers and their countries. This book comprises a portfolio of all of the learning that students did in their small groups of this time period.

You can read about the explorers and watch movie trailers summarizing their adventures. This book has lots of media content: audio recordings of written text and video's. We hope you enjoy reading and watching it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
