The History Of Vaccines
Milkmaids often got cowpox. Cowpox is a sickness that comes from a cow's udder. People who get Cowpox become immune to smallpox. Like Cowpox, Smallpox is a disease but it is much more powerful and deadly.
This man is milking a cow in risk of getting cowpox.
Smallpox killed many people and when smallpox was declared free from the world in 1980 nobody had to worry about having it because smallpox was gone for good.

Louis Pasteur is a doctor that is known for creating vaccines. Louis created many vaccinations such as the vaccine for Rabies. Rabies is a disease that you get from animals biting you or you touching them and usually animals like rodents.

Raccoons can give you rabies. Rabies is very important to treat right away because once you get it if its not treated fast enough the person who has it is in risk of death. Here are ways to avoid getting Rabies, stay away from wild animals such as raccoons, squirrels, and rats.
