In 1899, an antibiotic was made but when it was used it in the hospital many patients died.

Louis Pasteur is a doctor that is known for creating vaccines. Louis created many vaccinations such as the vaccine for Rabies. Rabies is a disease that you get from animals biting you or you touching them and usually animals like rodents.

Raccoons can give you rabies. Rabies is very important to treat right away because once you get it if its not treated fast enough the person who has it is in risk of death. Here are ways to avoid getting Rabies, stay away from wild animals such as raccoons, squirrels, and rats.

Joseph Lister created the antibiotic penicillin.

Milkmaids often got cowpox. Cowpox is a sickness that comes from a cow's udder. People who get Cowpox become immune to smallpox. Like Cowpox, Smallpox is a disease but it is much more powerful and deadly.

Smallpox killed many people and when smallpox was declared free from the world in 1980 nobody had to worry about having it because smallpox was gone for good.

This is a reliable syringe that doctors use today.

In the past syringes were glass and not safe to have around patients in the hospital so they are now plastic and have improved in many different ways. Syringes have helped many lives and they continue to help.

Suffering because of deadly sicknesses was very common in the past. These sicknesses have  killed and spread to many different people.

The polio vaccine was invented to help people like this child survive polio. Polio made many people like these people have trouble walking.

The bacteria inside moldy bread was found by Joseph Lister he accidentally dropped moldy bread in bacteria and he saw the bacteria dissolve that's how he made the first antibiotic.

Soil is a natural ingredient that would help antibiotics in many different ways this is why doctors know that in the future if soil is in antibiotics they will continue to be successful and save many peoples lives. With soil in antibiotics doctors can make antibiotics better and create new ones.
