I know that you can see the oldest layer on the bottom and the youngest is on the top. This happens because when more layers are added then the ones on the bottom become the oldest.

This picture is a good example of rock layers.

Erosion

Erosion is caused by wind, water, heat and chemicals. The rock could be bigger by the water and it can form into something that it wasn't before. Erosion can also change the rock because it can melt.

Some rocks will bend due to heat and pressure. They will start to bend and stay like that. Others will break and crack during an earthquake. They will stay like that and that is how these rocks are sometimes different to other rocks.
