Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social-emotional Learning is designed to support students in developing skills like self-control, perseverance, mindfulness, and self-motivation. Practices such as welcoming and inclusion activities, engagement, optimistic messages, and end of learning closures help create a safe, equity-centered, and productive learning environment for all students (Ferlazzo, 2017).

The Bristol Warren Regional School District educates the students of the towns of Bristol and Warren, RI, educating approximately 3,300 students in four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.&#160;&#160;

Through our efforts to increase student achievement and personalize learning for the whole child, BWRSD has been recognized by Digital Promise (<a href="https://digitalpromise.org/district/bristol-warren-regional-school-district/">League of Innovative Schools</a>), <a href="https://futureready.org/scaling-innovation-systems-approach-transforming-teaching-learning/">Future Ready Schools</a>, The US Department of Education (<a href="https://intensiveintervention.org/resource/data-based-individualization-framework-intensive-intervention">NCII/DBI Program</a>) and several other organizations as a model district across the New England Region.

BWRSD is pleased to announce "Sail Bristol Warren," a new experiential learning program offered to all grade 4 students.&#160;This grant-funded program was developed in collaboration with the Herreshoff Marine Museum, the RI Marine Trades Association, Roger Williams University and Real Jobs RI.

MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)

MTSS encompasses RtI, academic as well as the social, emotional, and behavioral development of children from early childhood to graduation. MTSS provides multiple levels of support for all learners MTSS aligns resources and support for students receiving instruction AND for teachers and other support staff who are delivering the instruction utilizing and developing and delivering effective curriculum, administering assessment, and using data to guide instruction. Lens on Teaching, Learning, and Leading

BWRSD recognizes the importance of a shared vision for teaching, learning, and leadership in order to advance the success of our students and schools.&#160;This shared vision evolved with the development of our 2016 Strategic Plan and current educational research that identifies effective instructional strategies to meet the challenges of rigorous learning standards, the diverse academic and social emotional learning needs of students, and increased accountability for student outcomes.&#160;This vision also leverages the use of edtech tools that have the potential to greatly enhance the teaching and learning process. A shared vision can only be developed through extensive collaboration between teachers, administrators, families and communities, and ongoing professional learning to assist schools in implementing the changes needed for continuous improvement.&#160;

BWRSD is partnering with Roger Williams University to design and offer several programs, including:

Educator Preparation: Teacher method courses taught in our schools. Concurrent Enrollment: College Algebra KidWind: Sustainable energy and engineering for grade 4 students.

Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF)

BWEF is an independent community-based organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the Bristol Warren Regional School District. Through fundraising events and donations from individuals and businesses, BWEF provides grants to teachers and staff for innovative, high-quality programs that enhance and enrich our students' educational experience.

$70,000 in teacher-led innovative programs will be funded in the 2018-2019 school year!&#160;
