Wild Waters

The children in Maple Class have been producing some excellent descriptive writing about a storm using personification.  Enjoy!

Maple Class - Personification

Fish were tossed about in the raging sea and being thrown onto land and rocks.

Ferociously, the wild ocean threw itself at the harbour walls as if it were a cat trying to reach into a mouse hole!

Then a blanket of eerie, grey mist smothered the deep sapphire, blue sea.

As if the world had been drained of colour, the sky turned black.The wild wind caused thousands of salty droplets to splash over the sails, swallowing them as it did so.

Thunder banged and crashed as loudly as Krakatoa`s top exploding off!

The sea swirled and crashed with waves as big as Pluto!

The deep, grey sky darkened and lightning whizzed by in all directions.

Heavy raindrops began to fall as the heavens began to cry sending bullets of rain into the terrified sea below.

Like a guillotine slicing the sky, the lightning tore the sky in two as easily as scissors cutting a blade of grass

The harbour walls fought relentlessly even though they were smothered with spray

The few waves that got in ripped through ships swiftly and forcefully.

Krakatoa - is a famous volcano that erupted with a loud bang. Guillotine - a piece of cutting equipment often in a classroom. Harbour - is a small area of ocean surrounded by large stone walls were boats are kept for safety.

Sails - a large piece of thick cloth that is on a boat which catches the wind and makes the boat go.
